‘22 TN C Handje Tamba

I highly doubt Pember ever seriously contributes. He might be 7' tall but he is skinnier than Fulkerson. He needs to add a lot of muscle. He also doesnt have a broad base most good post players have.

Which really makes you wonder why Barnes and staff ever recruited him. I see Pember playing at the D2 level maybe. His HS team was more about their backcourt which was stellar in that game against Memphis East.

I feel fairly confident in saying Pember will not be on this team in 3 years. If he is I also feel confident that his role will still be bench warmer. I hate it for him, because he seems to love the university and he grew up in Knoxville, but I simply do not see him as a contributor. He has been on the team two years now and has failed to crack the lineup with clear playing time in the post available.

This, and he is a bad defender and rebounder. Broken record.

You can bring in Pember as a developmental post player if you don't have a team full of them. At the time, I thought it was an ok pickup. Looking down the bench today, it doesn't appear to be.

This is the right approach. It was completely okay to bring a project such as Pember onto the roster in the hopes he would become something more. He has now had 2 years and it does not seem that true playing time is in the cards for him here. It would honestly be in HIS best interest to transfer so that he has an opportunity to get the playing time he wants. It's just not happening here.

I feel like his energy is one of his best attributes, actually. Offensive game is lacking but not broken. Obviously needs to add strength and some bulk. He’s far more advanced than Kyle Alexander was at the same age. If you are going to take a project, this is the type I want to see.
If he’s far more advanced than Kyle at the same age, I would take him. I’m not a huge Alexander fan, because he couldn’t establish and hold his position in the low post, but if this kid can gain some weight and strength and is more advanced, then it becomes a no-brainer.

Im guessing hope that he could grow into his body.

I'm mixed on Tamba. Isn't he Fulky's weight right now but taller. Doesn't appear dominate in any facet. Has the size we need but so does Plasvic.

Someone help me here.

Very similar frame to Kyle Alexander coming out of high school, I would just about guarantee Tamba redshirts and the staff works him hard for a year. As others have stated he’s the kind of project you take, he may turn into something and he may not, but there’s reason for some optimism there.

We could use a 25mpg 7pts 7rbd 2bpg like Alexander gave us.

Yeah if the other two posts are putting in work like Williams and Schofield.
Even if not, a rim protector/defensive difference maker in the post is nice to have on the roster...and Schofield damage really started coming when he moved to the wing.

Knoxville Catholic was eliminated last night in the State Semifinals. I was told Tamba has told his Catholic teammates he is reclassifying and is headed to UT. Again this is 2nd hand info but I trust the source.
What kind of numbers did Tamba put up, last night ?

Tamba is tall, but has good weight on him. Hes only 7 pounds from what Kyle was as a SR. He might need to work on his game, im not super familiar with him, but im glad hes already filled out.

Thank u. Tamba had 4 points, 5 boards and 3 blocks. Edwards led the team with 16 points, but had a bad shooting night and 7 turnovers. Well, it's hard to win back to back state championships. Although, I did notice my Fulton Falcons play Greeneville in the sub-state game

6’10”+ “projects” are a good idea to add to rosters. I think that the one-and-done model is going to be transitioned away over the next few years.

I consider the 3, 4 and 5 positions forward/center. Schofield could go play in the box but he was so deadly from outside.
