I agree with everything above regarding Estrella. I also think he will bring an entirely new aspect to our O. Barnes has studied Popovich’s use of using the 4/5 as a swing shooter, and Estrella is the rare kid who can pass inside out, but still be a threat to move out if they double inside. He will be fun to watch. While Estrella may not be as highly rated or athletic as some of the other players we have had from previous years, I still think Tennessee being able to get a player out of NH when Duke, Iowa and so many others schools were all over him is really impressive, especially considering how it's been difficult for Barnes to get bigs here and also the fact that Iowa fits Estrella's style more imo. While KC was great, I'm not sure I would call him a once in a decade phenom. I 100% agree with your statements about Grant and star rankings
Absolutely…Estrella & Dilione should both be Top 35-40 types, Cosby should be Top 75 and Cade will be lower ranked due to his injury and sitting out. But just those 4 would still be another Top 10 class and that’s without adding anyone else to it, which they almost certainly would in the spring.having two top 30 players will be perfect. also, that puts them in real good position to finish as 5 stars at the end of the year.

We have inroads with Somto, it may actually come down to how bad we want him or not, especially as a reclass.Get JP and Cosby, leave a spot open, go all in on getting Somto to reclassify to ‘23 and that is just about as perfect of a class as possible at Tennessee. Likelihood of this happening? Who knows. We most likely land Cosby and JP. Will be interesting if we can make inroads with Somto. I know you all have said we are pushing hard.
That’s why he was unranked by most services, he then played the AAU season on the UAA circuit and dominated which had him flying up everyone’s boards, he was then invited to Elite 24 game as well hosted by Under Armour.I’ve said on her several times, I don’t “scout” high school players at all, I rely on what’s said on here and recruiting rankings. So this may be way off base, and I welcome a correction if so:
My only concern watching videos of Estrella I could find is it seems to me the competition isn’t stellar. Again, someone with more insight into the high school basketball scene may know that’s not the case, but he didn’t look like he was being challenged by the guys he was going against
You said we lacked quality bigs in our recruiting…you didn’t say they had to stay for more than a season - which is it? The fat boy at Winthrop was a 4* recruit also. We’d all like more, but they don’t grow on trees and we’re competing with a bunch of good programs to get themYou're right, those were good hits. One of those guys is gone though. So, one in six years?
I'm not complaining actively. Just saying that in the past I have. Cade and JP are HUGE positives. You said we lacked quality bigs in our recruiting…you didn’t say they had to stay for more than a season - which is it? The fat boy at Winthrop was a 4* recruit also.
