This may be your waste take of all time, and that’s saying something. The kid and his family prefer he sit out, Barnes and staff prefer the same, yet you hope we lose a borderline 5* recruit off next years team? Brilliant. If I'm coming in early, I'm gonna play. If coach brings me in early and doesn't play me, peace I'm out. I hope he does that to Barnes for wasting his time bringing him in early.

You don't know what kind of drama this could create. Let's say he's not good at defense but is what we think he is on offense. We drop a few more games like the UK game because we can't get in the lane. That's gonna create frustration from the guys who know Freddie can help this team.
And how is it you know what Freddie brings at a college level? All you’ve seen are some AAU type highlights. We’ve got a top 50 type guy redshirting right now. Edwards can’t seem to find any minutes and should have redshirted based on the season to date. Redshirting is not wasting an athlete’s time. Our offense lacks what Freddie brings. If he can give some energy and get to the rim a couple times defense be dammed it's worth it to play him. So, yes I would if Barnes is going to he that stubborn.
Do you think every one of those football early enrollees will play next year?I'm not saying he lied to him, or there isn't some sort of plan. I'm just saying don't do it unless you plan on playing him this year. I'm not telling a kid to come in early unless I plan on playing him.
He doesn't get the benefit of the doubt because I don't respect. Barnes isn't anything special
Agreed. There is no guarantee Dilione's game translates right away to the college game. There are vids on youtube of Edwards having dominating 30+ point games against elite competition and that hasn't translated to the college game yet.And how is it you know what Freddie brings at a college level? Similar to Phillips game.Agreed. There is no guarantee Dilione's game translates right away to the college game. There are vids on youtube of Edwards having dominating 30+ point games against elite competition and that hasn't translated to the college game yet.
Dilione looks more "crafty" than physically elite to me. He doesn't appear to be as quick as a Bone or Chandler. He doesn't have the hops of Bowden or Keon. He's 6'5" , and he can dunk, but I've seen a couple of his game vids where he tries to dunk and gets blocked by the rim. I hope people aren't expecting a savior
Again, though, why is the assumption that Barnes is holding him back? Do you really think Freddie agreed to enroll early under one set of parameters and Barnes just yanked the rug from underneath him? That is so self-destructive and counterproductive.
Why not just trust that they arrived at the decision together with a level of understanding of what the plan is?
I know it's your default move to just assume the worst of our coach, but just a thought... maybe exercise just an ounce of trust in the guy who's been doing this longer than many of these posters have been alive?
What does he stand to gain by brining a kid in early, lie to him, piss him off by not playing him, and then watch him leave in four months?
You have an open scholarship just laying around with him taking this unused scholarship you free up another scholarship he was going to take next year. He comes in early and learns the system plus change his body and diet. Gets a head start on his classes. Then if you need him and he can help the team he plays. It’s a win win.I just dont understand bringing him in now, unless the plan is to play him.
That’s something I hadn’t thought of. I’d say you’re probably correct. The possibility exists that Dilione enrolled with no desire to be thrown to the wolves. People assume it's Barnes's decision to not play him, but perhaps a stipulation to him enrolling was that Tennessee wouldn't pressure him to play immediately.
