Virginia Opens Preseason With Tennessee Wednesday Night​

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — The Virginia women’s soccer team opens its preseason schedule with an exhibition match against Tennessee on Wednesday night (Aug. 7). Kick is set for 7 p.m.

MATCH DAY INFORMATION
• Admission to each of Virginia’s exhibition matches is free
• For exhibition matches, concessions stands will not be open
• A clear bag policy will not be enforced and fans are welcome to bring outside food and beverage (excluding alcohol)
• Virginia’s exhibition matches will not be streamed nor will there be live stats

A spring enrollee from Penn State where she competed in 2023 as a redshirt-freshman, Latino appeared in three matches, taking six shots and helping the team to a pair of shutouts. Rated as a 4-star recruit and the No. 14 midfielder coming out of high school by Top Drawer Soccer/IMG Academy, she has attended camps with the U14 and U18 U.S. Youth National Teams. She played club for PDA Blue 04, winning a North Atlantic Championship and earning ECNL All-Conference honors in 2021.

  • Made her Big Ten debut vs. Maryland (9/15), registering one shot on goal.
  • Attempted one shot on goal and played for 45 minutes during a win over Monmouth (9/03).
  • Logged her first collegiate appearance against West Chester (8/20), logging 45 minutes and registering four shots.

MATCH CENTRAL: Tennessee at Virginia (exhibition)​

The Lady Vols are headed to Charlottesville, Virginia, for the first of two pre-season exhibition matches, squaring off with the Cavaliers in a 7 p.m. ET contest at Klöckner Stadium Wednesday night.

Live stats and live video will not be available for this exhibition match. Admission for this contest at UVA is free.

NEW FACES: Tennessee added 17 newcomers in its 2024 signing class. 10 newcomers are freshman as seven are transfers with collegiate experience.

BACK AGAIN: The Lady Vols return 13 letterwinners from the 2023 squad that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

THE LAST MEETING: Tennessee last played Virginia during a regular season matchup on Sept. 12, 2014, falling 2-1 to the eventual NCAA runners-up.

UP NEXT: Tennessee will host UNC Asheville at 1 p.m. Sunday in its final tune up before the season begins when UT goes on the road to Indiana for an 8 p.m. ET contest on Thursday, Aug. 15.
