🤔..Wonder what new staff's thoughts on UNIFORMS??

@DeerPark12 There’s a Nike sweatshirt that recently came out that UGA, LSU, Bama, Clemson, Ohio State, Penn State etc. etc all have available, but we do not. Why is that? Do we have people in the Athletic Department that make some of the decisions of which designs they want sold?
TIA for the response

I'm not familiar with the shirt you're talking about, but typically Nike makes one design and it's available for every school. Do you have a link to the one you're talking about?

Nike makes the decisions on what designs and styles are offered to retailers. If there aren't enough pieces ordered by Nike's big three Tennessee retailers (Fanatics, VolShop, Alumni Hall), then the piece is not produced. There's a minimum order per retailer and a minimum order total from those three that has to be reached.

Is this a @DeerPark12 confirm? I get that people like black uniforms, but I think it’s played out. It was cool 12 years ago because it was 12 years ago.

I would be a big fan of bringing back the Condredge Holloway era unis for a game or two.

Tennessee was supposed to wear black, with the jerseys auctioned off for local community organizations, for the Kentucky game, but Nike couldn't manufacture and deliver them because of COVID. Many programs had delays in receiving uniforms, some started the season wearing last year's designs.

There's typically a one-year advance on uniform design. With a new staff coming in, Nike will probably meet with Heupel soon, but I don't expect major changes, especially not this coming year.

That was supposed to be from the rivalry line that Nike always releases the last 3-4 weeks of the football season. There was a t-shirt and a jacket as well. Haven't seen the jackets anywhere, Nike.com has the t-shirts for a few schools, and as you said, the sweatshirts for a few more.

The whole line was supposedly scrapped and/or pushed to next year because of the shortened season and total lack of demand for retail product across the country. Not sure why they went ahead and released them for a few schools, but they're not available for every school. I saw some teams wear this line during bowl season.

Thanks for the response. That’s disappointing. I think they could do a good version of that with Tennessee.

In before, just WIN!!!!! I don't care if we play in our skivvies at this point just wanna see fun football and be competitive and WIN!!!!
This. I worry more about the players in the uniform than the uniform itself. That being said, the night they had the Halloween uniforms and popped SC and Spurrier was epic.

I liked the Smokies.. I think it's very important we nail the uniform. Got to look good before anything else. I would like a lite gray or almond color in place of white for a road game . Look good play good.

I bet a helmet like this could help keep players out of concussion protocal.

Kinda curios👀👀. Will they be locked on the idea of Traditional Uni's or will they Push for a combination of Traditional looks with an aggressive modern feel? I personally would like both!! I Love our Storm Troopers, but also would love a new high tech with attitude Uni. What's your thoughts? On the Uni's! 😂 not me! Or this post!
I couldn’t care less. UT’s coaches have paid too much attention to looking good, and far too little attention to actually playing well.

Old school...

...real old school.

I guess the point is changing things isn't always the wrong thing to do. The orange jerseys are untouchable and across all generations of Tennessee fans any major alteration to the home jersey has always met fierce resistance. But the complimentary color has changed in the past. If Great-Grandpa's generation wasn't afraid to change things up, then we shouldn't be afraid to do it in our time.

No Tennessee football coach other than Dooley has spent more than 10 minutes worrying about uniforms, I can promise you that. Dooley obsessed over dumb stuff and wouldn't listen, but he's the only one that took a real interest in it.

Butch wanted an alternate uniform when he got here, and adidas already had one designed and ready to go. The other changes to the adidas uniforms (removing the black outline, new custom number font) were actually done and approved by Dooley during the fall of 2012. I believe @briancrice posted a picture of a sample he has of one of those that has Dooley's name on it. Could be wrong about that, but I know for certain he's the one that approved the changes.

Butch had zero to do with the Nike designs. UT had a small team of staffers that worked with Nike reps on the rebranding. Butch signed off on the designs, but he was basically told what it was going to be be.

Pruitt did not care one bit about uniforms. The "Orange Britches" stuff they did on social media pissed him off because it was guys being "worried about the wrong things." After the players asked to wear all orange against Kentucky and were blown out, he told the captains to "never bring up the uniform s*** ever again."

You can quit with the attempts to make me a Pruitt fan. It won't work. :)
