agreed...we'll be young next year, and we'll lose some games that will suck, but i'd bet we'll win some that we probably aren't supposed to either....i'm just glad at this point to even be in the discussion about the Tourney in June, 5 months before the season even starts......

remember last year in the preseason? NIT...hopefully....how soon we all forget...we'll be fine....especially in 07-08 i believe...

I am totally at a loss to explain the need all fan bases now have to claim their teams aren't receiving their due respect.

yeah, i've fallen in to that category about football...but even still...i know i was blowing things out of proportion at times....but with bball....i can't say we haven't gotten our just due the past 10 months or so....

a 7 seed pre season prediction....never would of thunk that would garner the "no respect" card.

I agree. Everyone wants to use that as a motivational crutch. It's all part of the victim mentality. Alas, I am afraid the legal profession bears a significant piece of the blame for it.

:D They are getting plenty of respect. The Vols are now getting talked about. Before this past season no one talked about them.

I figure they will have a up and down year next season but by the time the ncaa starts they will be on a roll. Then the next season teams better watch out.

well does it even matter right now where we are ranked in a pre season backet?? seriously??? I think we will surprise next year, but come on you can't expect to be pre-season top 10??

At least we're on the map somewhere. Things are definitely looking up for UT basketball.

inexperienced 5 star players who are some of the best in the country.

and that is coming from someone who thinks ohio state is going to be all that cause they had a great recruiting class...

How do you justify UCONN being a 3 seed then? They lost like 8 of their top 10 players(including their top 5). And they don't have a true PG.

oh and lets not forget the zags being a 6th seed after losing bautista (sp) and Morrison.

There are so many questionable seedings that it isn't even funny. This was a wasted attempt at a bracketology.

I guess the name gets some credit.
The Hall of Famer on the sideline with two National Championships has something to do with it.

Actually, Doug Wiggins, AJ Price, and Craig Austrie are all three point guards.

Well lets see hat. Wiggins has no more experience then Tabb, Johnson or Smith since they are all incoming freshmen. Price didn't play at all last year so how can you give him the nod over any of ours? Here is Austrie's line:

GP-GS=34-24 MPG=16.5 FGM-FGA=32-88 FG%=.364
3M-3A=10-33 3%=.303 FTM-FTA=37-47 FT%=.787 RPG=1.6
As=87 TOs=35 Bs=5 STLs=14 PPG=3.3

So their "proven" PG shot 36% and averaged 3.3 and 1.6. I can understand how that justifies UCONN being 4 seeds higher.

Exactly where did I say they were proven? I simply pointed out that all three of those guys are true points, not guys who will be learning the position at the major college level.

Well, at least 2 were listed as SGs coming out of HS, so there are questions as to are they "true" points. You didn't say that any of them were "proven" but you did say we don't have any "established" PGs and that is your excuse. I don't see how Johnson, Tabb, Smith, or Howell need to learn the position since they all played PG in HS/AAU. They may have to learn some of the finer points to the position, but so will the 3 UCONN PGs.

Howell may not be as athletic as Austrie, but his line is pretty comparable.

Austrie FG%=.364 3%=.303 FT%=.787 RPG=1.6 PPG=3.3
Howell FG%=.400 3%=.395 FT%=.750 RPG=0.4 PPG=2.0

jordan howell is a true point guard, it doesnt mean they are good, or that a guy learning the position wont be as good. So stating that they have 3 point guards really means absolutly nothing as to how good they'll be

Any recruiting analyst who listed Doug Wiggins or AJ Price as anything but a point guard needs to actually get out and go to games during the summer.

Either way, they both have to tune their game, as do the UT PGs. Any other arguments to be smacked? The two PGs in question have not played any more than the ones we recruited. POINT MOOT.
