'09 Josh Nunes - QB, Upland, CA

You are correct...He ran both Suggs and Stewart off.

Anyway, the fact remains UT has had west coast QB's for the past decade or so. Too bad we can't throw in Elway, Moon, Brady, Leinart, Palmer...The point is the left coast tends to produce top notch QB's and we should continue to probe the wealth.
Peyton wasn't here to run Suggs off in 2000.

Hey!! We are 19 days till KO with UCLA...lets talk about them....does anyone know if they have any playmakers on offense or what their defense is all about??

I guess southern boys are getting thumped since our last 3 QB's (Clausen, Clausen and Ainge) were from the left coast? Running off AJ Suggs and that other texan that ended up at A&M.

What say you?

I say, read my post again and try to comprehend it, I was agreeing with you.

Im going to see Petty play this year, make the treck from Dallas down to Midlothian High. I'll let you guys know what I see. I think he'll be a scrapper but I dont know how it will translate to the Vols. Stephens is from Texas too is he not?

yes

About him Qualifying with the NCAA...."Nunes reports a 4.5 honors GPA and a 1900 SAT score."

Lets just see over half the current players in the NCAA match those in high school.

I think the Mods should delete this thread. We dont want Josh's Family or Friends reading that their not wanted in TN because there from the West Coast.

...Because Bryce Petty is going to beat him out at UT.

Based on watching both of their videos, Petty is hands-down the better QB. You can tell that Petty has "heart" which is not coachable.

Nunes is another West Coast QB that's coming to Knoxville knowing absolutely NOTHING about the culture of the South, what it's like to play football in the South, and the expectations that come with being the QB at TN.

I think Nunes is a fine QB, but I think this Petty guy will beat him out for the starting job once the chips fall where they may.

Petty is just a tougher guy.

And how exactly do you know that Petty is a tougher guy? Are you a 17 year old kid who went to highschool in both Texas and California and were friends with both of them? Or are you just able to predict how a kid will turn out after he matures? There is a reason that Nunes is one of the most highly rated QB's coming out.

There's something about the SEC and quarterbacks.
The nation's top football conference always has been a hotbed for the top passers. Looking at the quarterbacks in the class of 2009, it's a trend that's not going away.

Ryan Mossakowski is the latest highly-rated pro-style passer to commit to a SEC school. When Frisco (Texas) Centennial four-star quarterback Ryan Mossakowski committed to Kentucky late last week, it gave the conference commitments from five of the top 10 pro-style passers in the nation.
Along with Mossakowski at No. 5, No. 4 Aaron Murray is heading to Georgia, No. 6 AJ McCarron is heading to Alabama, No. 9 Zach Mettenberger is heading to Georgia and No. 10 Josh Nunes is a Tennessee commitment. Digging even deeper, Mississippi State commit Tyler Russell ranks as the No. 13 pro-style passer and LSU pledge Chris Garrett is No. 15.
Among dual-threat quarterbacks, the conference has commitments from the No. 1, No. 11 and No. 12 players at the position. The headliner is LSU commitment Russell Shepard, the nation's top dual-threat player and No. 4 prospect overall.
Thus, it was no surprise to see Mossakowski head to the "conference of the quarterback." He said things such as playing time and relationships with the coaches were key, but it's the chance to play in the SEC that sparked his initial interest in the Wildcats.
"The playing time and that stuff, that's a factor as well," he said. "I'll go in with a good shot to get a lot of reps real early. Originally, I always wanted to go to the SEC because I think it's the best conference."
Mossakowski said his final decision came down to UK and Alabama.
"Either one would have been a good fit for me," he said, "but I felt like God was leading me toward Kentucky. My heart was leading me to Kentucky. "I just really enjoyed the overall atmosphere there when we (visited). I could feel it around the coaches and players. It was different there from everywhere else we visited. It's hard to describe, but I could definitely feel it."

You posted this in another thread already.:)

How have they done in the college ranks? Oh yeah, they're still in high school. Go get a haircut, scout.

not everyone opens every single thread and I thought the article should be in here as well since it mentions Nunes.

ainge run.....:eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol: now hopefully we will see crompton and coleman do it some. nunes has enough speed too

Give the kid a break. No one can tell how good a kid is going to be in college based on what they do in high school. Just look at the recruits ND brings in every year and how badly they've flopped. This kid is going to run onto the field through the T and he'll have my support until he shows he doesn't muster up. Physically this kid has what it takes - let's see if he can stand up to the SEC firepower.

Im a Nunes fan and I dont think Petty will ever do anything more than carry a clipboard.
