'09 Josh Nunes - QB, Upland, CA

3/10 isn't very good.

Have you never looked at the final ranking stats for the top classes? Nobody averages 4 stars. 3/10 four star recruits is expected. That would be 12 four star recruits in a class of 30. Mix in a few 5 star players and a bunch of 3 stars and you have yourself a top recruiting class. See 2007 as a model if needed.

Well, now it's 4/11. You really like to argue don't you? I wold rather have had 4-5/10, but you take what you can get.

It's 4 of 11 but alot of these guys are fast risers and I wouldn't be surprised if at least 6 of those 11 end up as 4*s. This isn't counting Rufus Williams, Rae Sykes, or Cory Hall who could all be 4* or 5* when the JUCO rankings are released.

Yeah, I know. I'm glad the coaches found some risers. I think this class will be really good, it's just scary to see us getting commits from unranked players. I'm glad they are rising though, makes me feel better.

Isn't that one of the functions of a sports board? State your opinion and defend it. I'm pointing out that your expectations aren't in line with the reality of recruiting. 1/3 of recruits being 4 stars is not a bad number. I get your point of wanting to get 4 or 5 out of 10 being 4 stars or higher but when has UT ever done that? Besides, quite a few of our 3 star players are agreed to be sleepers or kids who have been looked over and whose stock is rising. I'll take a hard-working, underrated 3 star with a chip on his shoulder over a 5 star primadonna any day.

I'll take the coaching staff's evaluation of talent over a recruiting service any day. We are recruiting solid, smart kids who have no background issues and probably didn't deserve to be unrated in the first place. Seriously, how does a 6'6 320 lb lineman get no rating? I seriously doubt that Fulmer and company would recruit non-rated hacks with no talent.

2002: 21/25 were rated 4* or better
2004: 10/24 were rated 4* or better
2005: 17/26 were rated 4* or better
2007: 16/32 were rated 4* or better

It's not uncommon for us to have classes like that. 4 our of the last 7 have been like that. Maybe I'm just spoiled.

If you don't believe me look it up for yourself:

Suggs is from GA, not sure where Joey was from. Went to Memphis.

I think Joey was from Sevier County. Anyway, Suggs was semi-local. Local in comparison to Nunes. Just pointing out that Southern QBs can fail just as easily as guys from the West Coast.

A good number of those rankings were lower at the time of the player's recruitment. I get your point and you aren't spoiled but not everybody on the team needs to be 4 stars or above. It would be nice, but you would have a lot of pissed off talent that never gets to see the field.

I don't expect to get only 4 star players. I just don't want only 3 stars. No big deal, it's over and these guys are on the rise.

I agree 100%! But, this guy "seems" to be really good. Never know! Besides Chad Pennington (1 D1 scholarship offer) name me a "local" qb who has done anything in college. Heath S and Andy K. I can't think of anyone else.

Bobby Dodd.

Great video! It is hard to tell how strong his arm is since most of the passes are fairly short, but it looks like he has some pretty good velocity. He seems extremely accurate and see's the field very well. It doesn't take him long to pinpoint a receiver and fire the ball in there. He looks like a very good fit for our offensive system. Thanks for sharing.

I guess the most logical question becomes who emerges at quarterback between Nunes and Bryce Petty from this incoming class? Clearly Nunes has the higher rating ... but Petty looks like a good one too. It's always nice to have that dilemma.

And you got BJ Coleman is just gonna be a Freshmen this year so there should be a lot of Competition in that position for a while.

Keep hearing that Nunes has been talking to Marlon Brown. Any chance he is also talking to Shaquelle Evans from Cali? Thought I read he wants to visit. That would be too good to land Evans and Brown.

How can you tell if he is staring down his receivers? The only time he seems to stare them down, he has 2 or 3 receivers in that spot, so you cant tell which one he is looking at.
