'09 Josh Nunes - QB, Upland, CA

This was not a game situation.

Understand, and he may not do this during the game but it appeared to me he followed the receiver too long before throwing to them. Also, I hope it is also just a practice thing the way he spins the ball around before throwing it. I'm sure he is a great QB and I'm sure the coaching staff can address anything they see, I'm just making an observation.

I understand your observations, I made a few of my own. But, if you notice, the guy snapping the ball is not really snapping it. He is just pitching it to him and he is not even a center. A real center would snap the ball appropriately. He probably has to spin it around to get his fingers on the laces. Also, he is not going to come in on day one as a perfect QB ready to start in the SEC. There will be some areas that will need work and that is why he will probably redshirt Crompton's senior year, but practice with the team and sharpen his skills. I can assure you Clawson see's a lot of things he likes about this kid or he wouldn't have offered him.

He seemed to hit his second look a few times to me. Lets not forget this is a HS QB we are talking about.

My point was that this is a passing league or passing camp. It is just a piece of the whole. This is hard to correlate to a real game.

The thing I like about Nunes the most is he doesn't bounce up and down in the pocket like some of our past QB's. It seemed like they were dancing back there.

It looks like he can throw the long ball and doesn't seem to force the issue to much! Hopefully we will see him winning games for us on Saturdays in the next couple of years!

Nunes is coming to the Hill on the 30th and he's bringing his whole family with him. This isnt new, but word is that he is heavily recruiting Rogers and Brown.

who knows? but you would have to think that it's been discussed considering it's Nunes that's calling him.

Yeah...I didn't mean to imply you would know...more of a rhetorical question I guess considering Nunes is working him....I had a feeling that we might not even be talking up WR much with Rogers - but maybe that is something that he wants at least a shot at. I think that he'll make a great DB.

...Because Bryce Petty is going to beat him out at UT.

Based on watching both of their videos, Petty is hands-down the better QB. You can tell that Petty has "heart" which is not coachable.

Nunes is another West Coast QB that's coming to Knoxville knowing absolutely NOTHING about the culture of the South, what it's like to play football in the South, and the expectations that come with being the QB at TN.

I think Nunes is a fine QB, but I think this Petty guy will beat him out for the starting job once the chips fall where they may.

Petty is just a tougher guy.

That Casey Clausen sure wasn't a tough guy. Give me a break. Geography doesn't determine how tough you are.

I still don't understand how you can watch both of their highlight reels and determine one is any tougher than the other.

 I agree with kpt. How can you tell which is tougher without knowing them or at least seeing them play in person?

go ahead and tell me what our record is this year since your are freakin Cleo. i just look forward to having 2 talented QB's coming in and they will compete in two years from now.

I love that people can make talent evaluations based on star ratings and recruiting highlight clips.

If you found out that he liked grits and listened to Lynrd Skynrd, would you feel better about his prospects?
