'09 TN DL Daniel Hood (merged)

And you know that he hasn't been sat down and explained everything on how life is and how unfair it is?? Good grief, why do people need to believe that life sucks?? It only sucks when those around you provide no support or love. That's truth.

Life doesn't suck for me, why do you think he should be given the opportunity over a kid on his team that hasn't done what he has and wants to play for UT?

I was just saying that people try to point fingers and call someone "wrong" while putting up a front like they are perfect or know what is best for everyone. Basically.

This isn't about anyone but Daniel Hood. Period.

It seems to me that the Hood supporters are the only ones presenting germane arguments while those who oppose continually present information that could be classified as "reaching".

JMO.

No one in here is claiming to be perfect were are arguing about whether we would like him on the team or not.

Probably because he has done everything in his power to prove that he deserves the opportunity to try. I don't know why that is so hard for people to accept.

And why is it so hard to understand that just because he tried that he doesn't necessarily deserve a chance at UT? There are plenty of kids that aren't in his situation that have tried their best to come to UT and play ball.

And are you Daniel Hood? No. Is it your choice to let him/not let him play football at UT? No.

So take care of you and yours and leave the people who are involved to deal with it.

People are saying "what if that was your daughter who was attacked?". Ok well..... what if Daniel Hood was your son? Have you thought about that? Would you deny him opportunities even if he has been through all of this and repented and done all the right things and worked hard? No, you wouldn't, and don't act like you wouldn't.

He has been a Vol fan all his life, I believe he should have lost his opportunity when he committed the act. You are asking me to accept your opinion on this matter and I wont. Doesn't mean I dislike you it just means we are never going to agree on this.

I don't care who it is or if UT loses every game. I don't want to have kids like this associated with the University.

How do you presume to know so much about this kid from one incident? And how can you presume to know so much more than the people that made the decision to admit him.

If Daniel Hood was my son, I would have kicked his ass.

Child abuse is a far worse crime than what Daniel did.

This kid has been punished for this incident and adequately according to the victim and his parents. I find it hilarious that you presume to know more than the victim about this kid's moral fortitude.

I've never said that it was any more than my opinion based on the facts as I see them.

If you've seen me around here at all you know I'm not some uptight, moralistic prick. That being said, this is over my line.

I don't have an opinion, I am supporting a decision that was researched and made with the support of everyone involved. Also, remind me to never vote for you for a judge's seat. Would be some very messed up sentences.

I think most are also missing the emotional beating that he took after this happened. Think about being 13 and going through that, I don't want to because I probably wouldn't have been anywhere near as strong and probably would have taken my own life at that age.

close-mind·ed (klsmndd, klz-) or closed-mind·ed (klzd-)

Intolerant of the beliefs and opinions of others; stubbornly unreceptive to new ideas.

Unless you work for code pink you would probably take the punishment I handed down to you over most others.
