#1 Alabama vs #4 Auburn - Iron Bowl (3:30 CBS)

Not even. There's too big a gap.

You could maybe, maybe make the argument if a #3 Auburn plays and beats a #4 ranked Missouri next week, but at this point it's just not there.

It will be interesting to see how the math works out. Ohio St is a solid 3rd overall in the computers. They're ranked 3rd in all of them except one, and in the exception they're ranked 4th. 3rd in both polls.

Auburn meanwhile is 4th overall in the computers (but ranked as low as 8th in Sagarin) and 6th and 5th in the polls. I wouldn't be surprised if they jump Ohio St in both polls but trail them in the computers...I think that might be enough for them to leapfrog Ohio St.

AU with this win today over number one.. and if they beat Missouri which will be ranked in the top 5.. they will jump over Ohio State!

You're still looking at too large a gap at the moment; check the BCS rankings and look at the averages after each team.

It'd take OSU losing to Michigan State; not Auburn winning out.

The only way the latter works is with some seriously heavy poll-lobbying

The polls won't have a team with losses jump an established team from a major conference that's undefeated at the moment.

Of course, the key to telling is not the ranking number, but the average number they show with each team.

a 1 loss Auburn or Mizz will not jump an undefeated FSU or OSU. Period.

Neither of them is jumping FSU and Mizzou isn't jumping anybody. Auburn has an outside shot at jumping Ohio St by virtue of beating Alabama and if they beat Missouri in the title game.

Who cares? That said, if Auburn wins the SEC championship they'll be playing FSU.

I'm glad to see Bama lose too, I just don't like OSU.

That said, no they won't unless Michigan State wins...and frankly I'm not sure they have the offense to do so.

An undefeated OSU will go in no matter how they do. You can take that to the bank.

I found it odd how a so called gimmick option offense beat Alabama. They couldn't stop them from running. Auburn was not a balanced team. Marshall only threw for 94 yards. Bama couldn't stop the option all game long.

Everyone said option teams can't beat teams like Bama. It's the reason Oregon isn't respected. FSU will destroy any team left now if Winston isn't charged.

I'm not entirely convinced of that. Auburn has SEC recognition, won a national title just a couple of years ago, and has wins over 4 ranked teams (5 if they beat Missouri), including Alabama. Ohio St's most impressive win will be beating Mich St in the Big 10 Championship, assuming they win it.

I could see them jumping Ohio St in at least one poll.

OSU schedule this year was just a little better than boise state's schedules during their BCS buster run....

Missouri won't be ranked 5.. they will be ranked 4 if they win today

So that will have AU beating the number one and number four teams in the same week.. and who did Ohio State beat?
