#1 Alabama vs #4 Auburn - Iron Bowl (3:30 CBS)

But the more I think about it I think A&M beats Missouri

and AU has a let down next week against South Carolina

It's unfortunate that the SEC likely not to be represented. If you ask me, that kind of cheapens it. After 7 in a row, the national championship ought to go through the SEC.

somebody predicted before the season started that the SEC would not be in the championship game this year I can't remember who it was

Nobody asked you, it's always great when Florida and Bammer loses, period!

Just because the SEC has won a bunch in a row doesn't necessarily mean the national championship has to "go through" it...I mean what if the best SEC team this year had 2 losses?

That's a really tough call to decide if Auburn should jump Ohio St...if I got to submit a poll ultimately I think I'd have them over the Buckeyes though.

The point is that Malzahn was ready for that; that's why they had a guy back there. It caught Alabama totally by surprise.

Maybe, but it's not like the the team just stood there and watched him run by. At least six Alabama players tried to tackle him.

What's the proper defensive setup to prevent a missed field goal return?

I think the key decision was to kick the FG in the first place, especially with a freshman kicker who had attempted something like 2 kicks all year. His kick didn't even have the distance; admittedly it was close, so I see why Saban thought he might have a chance.

The kicking game ultimately doomed them in that game - Foster missed 2 makeable FGs, kicked another low and got it blocked, and forced them to go for it on that one 4th and 1 when there were 3 points there for the taking.

The proper defensive setup is to let the clock run out and take your chances in OT. His kicker was 0 for 3 on the night and wise old Saban runs him out there to try and make a 57 yarder. Not smart.

make the fg

Well yeah, if the kicker had merely kicked the ball long enough to reach out of bounds, we won't be talking about it. But I guess that's just Saban's bad coaching.

You want to rip Saban, rip him for going for it on 4th down on the prior possession when a short FG would have won the game. Not this fluke play.

He was essentially forced into that decision by how Foster was kicking during this game. Read my post above; he'd already missed 2 makeable FGs and had another low kick blocked.

Given your options, do you go with Foster or let your team's bread and butter try and get one yard?

You don't put only SLOW offensive lineman on the field especially considering how he kicked all night long! Sabah the elf should have thought about this and put a few players with SPEED on the field.

Bottom line, Saban should have kicked the field goal when Bammer was inside the 25 earlier in the game. If he had that much lack of confidence in the field goal kicker, he should have never tried kicking a 50+ field goal attempt!
Poor coaching all the way around, period!
I'm still :eek:lol:!

Only thing better to happen other than Bama not getting in the title game would be for OSU to be left out because of their schedule.

They will. Auburn has the same case as Florida did a few years ago. IF AUBURN wins the SEC then they are in.. no question.
