In the BCS era, titles have been won by:
Phillip Fulmer
Larry Coker
Mack Brown
Les Miles
and possibly adding Gene Chizik... Seems crazy to me how so many coaches that are considered overrated, mediocre, or awful have won national titles. And I'm still not really sure what to think about Chip Kelly.

I don't think they're better than any BCS Champion, except maybe the 2002 Buckeyes, but I don't think either beat the 2002 Canes team. 2002 Buckeyes style of play helped them slow down the game and pull out a win. Either of these teams try their fast paced style of offense against that Miami team, and they just get mutilated, IMO.Florida '08 and Bama '09 would humiliate these teams.

2001 Canes would beat either by about 60 if they played either and went all out the entire game. I also don't see the 1998 Vols, 2000 Sooners, 2003 Tigers/Trojans, 2004 Trojans, or 2005 Horns having much of a problem. 2006 Gators win easily, too, if Chris Leak was in the form he was in by the title game. IIRC, 2007 LSU was banged up a lot, but they also would win big if they were healthy. The only team I left out was the 1999 Seminoles, who I just didn't watch enough to make a judgment on.Florida '08 and Bama '09 would humiliate these teams.

I honestly think Oregon and Auburn are both taking advantage of an down year of college football in general. I can't see either having much of a shot at a national title in most years past.
I think Oregon did for sure. Oregon only beat ONE ranked team this. And that was Stanford who inturn beat ZERO ranked teams. Both have about the same Strength of Schedule as Boise St.
Somebody look this up. But I think Oregon's win over Stanford is the only victory over a top 25 school for the whole conference. one victory for 10 teams!
