Pro-style quarterback
San Clemente (CA) San Clemente

Ht: 6-foot-3
Wt: 205 lbs
Class: 2010

Rivals Profile
ESPN Profile(read the write-up here)

According to several of the Rivals guys, this guy is about to blow up on the recruiting scene. No offers to speak of currently, but really impressed at the Elite 11. Barry Every referred to him as the "hardest thrower" at the camp.
San Clemente, Calif., quarterback Chase Rettig was one of a handful of quarterbacks that had really good showings at last week's Elite 11 Regional in Berkeley. The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder impressed Rivals.com analysts with his ability to sling the ball all over the field.

"I don't have any offers, but I think some stuff might be coming in," he said. "I've been talking to USC, Arizona State, Tennessee and Boston College. UCLA's in the mix, and so are Arizona and a couple other schools in the Pac-10.

His first pass was fumbled, his third pass was thru the receivers hands, he scrambles and fumbles and they include these on his HIGHLIGHTS

yeah, there was a morning and afternoon session. he seems to have arrived for the afternoon workout.

I just watched some of his film at Scout. Some nice throws to the sidelines, but not too many deep balls in the plays I saw.

All his snaps are from shotgun and there's a lot of quick passes. I'm anxious to hear what he says after his visit.

Another quarterback MVP was California signalcaller Chase Rettig. Rettig, who flew in this morning for the camp, was actually delayed in Dallas/Forth Worth and didn't work but the afternoon session.

Yet Rettig made up for lost time, competing at a high level and arguably shining as the most college-ready signal-caller at the Vols' camp.

no mention on rivals about Munchie.

Rettig got delayed in Dallas (imagine that) but might have been the best out there

We had an extended argument about the JUCO kid looking like Shuler.... I saw Heath quite a bit in HS. These clips look alot like Heath in HS.

PQB Chase Rettig, 6-2/194, San Clemente (Calif.) High
ASSETS: Good overall size and tremendous arm strength.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT: He has a tendency to overthrow by putting his whole body into the pass. Rettig needs to add some touch and finesse to his passing arsenal.
WHAT WAS MOST IMPRESSIVE AT CAMP: He was probably the hardest thrower at this Elite 11 event.
CONCLUSION: Rettig currently has no offers, but with the shortage of top flight pro-style quarterbacks someone will take a chance on this flamethrower and try to harness his power.

Evaluation from the Elite 11 last month in Cali... He is also going to graduate early and will be able to enroll in college in January...

Just got through watching that, TJ. Seems to me like he pushes the ball. Puts a lot of zip on it -- even on the short throws. You can break a receiver's hand that way. Stands tall in the pocket and delivers. I think he benefited from working with the staff today. If this is a guy the coaches want, I'm behind them.

Interesting quote from his ESPN bio:

He is very well built and strong, has a tall, thick frame and possesses one of the finest arms in this class along with Andrew Hendrix.

Rettig transferred high schools for the upcoming football season. I couldn't find any stats on him from the '08 season, but here are his stats from his '07 sophomore season:

2500 yds, 52.6% comp, 25 TD, 11 INT

Not too bad for a sophomore since his old HS, La Salle, is in one of the better conferences in CA.

Just realized there's probably no '08 stats for him because he likely had to sit out a year for transferring.
