espn...

• San Clemente (Calif.) quarterback Chase Rettig camped with Tennessee this past Tuesday and said he'll hear if he has an offer from the Vols after their next camp. He'll camp with UCLA on Saturday and will also attend the USC Rising Stars Camp.

Rettig is my my favorite QB prospect that is left now. IMO he has way more upside than Hendrix and Scroggins. Rettig would fit our system perfectly, and he wants to play here, why havent we thrown him an offer again ?

What upside are you talking about that Rettig hs over Scroggins? How would he fit the system better than Scroggins or Hendrix? Just curious to how you came to that conclusion.

Scroggins is a scambler. Lane Kiffin told Boyd to leave because he was a scambler and he didn't fit the offense that they were going to run.

Rettig and Hendrix are both great QBs that would fit our system and our type of offense well. Judging from past scambler QBs, they are very hard to develop into a pocket passer. I think we will be wasting our time trying to mold a scambler into a pocketpasser. When we already have two great pockets in Rettig and Hendrix.

Rettig and Hendrix are my top choices. IMO I would rather have Rettig.

Scroggins is a throw first kind of guy and then run. He is a pro style QB very different from Boyd. Now Brunetti is more like Boyd

1) I believe the word you're looking for is scRambler.
2) Scroggins is a pro style QB. Just because he has the ability to run doesn't mean that he looks to do so as anything but a last resort. He stands tall in the pocket, makes good reads, has great arm strength and good touch on his passes. There's no need to try to mold him from a scambler to a pocket.

Also Boyd was having knee surgery and wouldn't be able to play his first year. Besides, this whole Boyd thing is old news. He's not a Vol. Lets move on.

Does anyone thing we pull the trigger and offer this kid, just in case Jesse and Andrew end up committing to other schools at the end of the month?

the staff told him they'd be in touch after the 2nd wave of camps. if no one emerges to best Rettig and Brunetti, then he'll get an offer.

We need to rap up a top tier QB so that the likes of Ambles, Stone, Prater, Brown, Dunkley, etc keep us in the back of their minds and in their top 5 schools. I think all the staff needs is some 1 on 1 time with Scroggins and his parents. That maight be the nail in the coffin. He was very excited to get the offer. I hope the staff offers him even if he has a so so camp. Cause if he accepts then it will be a dominoe effect and will make those that would come if the QB situation improved sign with us.

I agree with Honolulu. We have solid momentum for our defense, but our offense is behind. If we get a top QB prospect, namely Jesse, then you will start to see the big name offensive skill position prospects fall along with him. Well also start hauling in linemen too. So important. Scroggins is our most important recruit in my opinion

That's fine...if he's getting some side instruction from those guys, I just hadn't seen anything yet on it...but my original post still didn't deserve the rude responses received. If you want me to be civil, then try to be civil yourselves. It works both ways.

In fact...as I said, I don't need to be wasting anymore time with petty crap like this. I was just trying to get some updates. Screw it...I'm done with this site...not worth the harrassment. Just have to rely on GVX for team updates.

maybe if he's that sensitive he does Need to move on.:cray:

Do you guys think there is a chance of getting Scroggins and Rettig? Or we just going to see wat scroggins does then make a hard push at chase?

That's exactly what I think will happen. The coaches want Scroggins. They will do what they can to get him to committ and then they will push for Chase. I think, from all accounts that I have read, that Chase was a pleasant surprise @ camp this week!
