this begs the question, if scroggins comes back to us and the staff accepts him, will bray jump ship?

Look at our depth chart why would he jump ship. It would be him and another freshman fighting for the starting job.

I would say no. Bray realizes that there will be competition at the BCS level schools. If he jumps ship, it's probably best we didn't take him in the first place if competition is something he doesn't want to encounter. That's why I think Scroggins stays at USC.

Ppl need 2 stop treating 17 year olds like babies. I know there are not grown but they know what they are doing.

I don't mean to be a dick, but how do you know what Tyler Bray does or does not realize?

I'd much rather keep Bray, and bring in Cam Newton for the short term fix. Bray may have the goods to win the job outright next fall...with Spring Practice and summer workouts under his belt, but with 2 good options to turn to (we won't know if Lamaison is realistically in the mix until Spring), CLK's 2nd season looks much brighter than this one.

If Scroggins did commit, it would likely send Bray elsewhere. No reason to upset the apple cart at this stage.
Scroggins wanted USC...he's got it...and a full 4yrs of bench-riding goodness. :dance2:

If he doesn't realize that, he could be the most uninformed recruit in the history of recruiting. Hell, everyone that plays realizes this. It wasn't necessarily directed at Tyler, but he is who I used as an example. Sorry for the confusion.

The thing is Eric...we've been down this road a twice before...landing 2 highly rated QB's in one class.

Both occurences ended up with one bowing out and transferring after 1yr. There will always be a decent situation somewhere and no heralded prospect want's to sit behind another for a full 4yrs. It's a pipe dream to think otherwise. It may work out to where the team has a chance to see which one they want, but it hurts one of the two kids as they either have to ride the bench for 4yrs or transfer elsewhere and have to sit a year.

1) Peyton + Brandon Stewart

2) Clausen + Rattay

The two quarterback situation doesn't always end in disaster.. Look at auburn's two quarterbacks.. And Georgia's two freshman. Murray and Mettenburger.. Both top 10 qb's both signed with the same team..

It has a chance to be a problem but it's not a definte..

See UGA last year, they got mettenburger and murray, they are set at QB for the next 4 to 5 years and they still are going to continure to recruit QBs but their is less urgency for them. I want Scroggins, Bray, and then I want a bigtime qb next year as well. If we can land 4 highly rated olinemen and Scroggins I feel like we can win 9 games next year, b/c all the recruiting experts say Bray doesnt have a college fb body just yet, needs a few years to hit the weights and develop for SEC ball where Jesse is ready to come in now and compete at the QB position.

Well good morning....it's a beautiful summer day here. The Vols are 0-0, we just finished a great recruiting class, and here we are talking about Jesse Scroggins. Life is good.

Bray and the short-term juco fix (Newton) makes the most sense, imo.

Get another top QB to develop in the 2011 class.

Scroggins is not going to leave USC based on competiton. What we know now versus the timng of JS' decison is that Corps is not what we thought he was. MB starts there for two more years after this season (goes to the NFL) and then the job is Jesse's. He's not coming to UT, imo.

I don't want Scroggins. He can stay out west. He had his chance to be a Vol. He strung us along and I didn't like it. Take Bray which has more potential than Scroggins anyway then add Newton to that. Which I predict will happen once our staff is blown away by Newton in a couple weeks. I would love that Class at the QB postion.

Then we add a bluechipper every year. We are going to be fine without Mr. Scroggins.

So we have a current recruit that has the most upside in the country. He actually outperformed Scroggins at one of the most competitive QB camps in the country. Bray was the second best QB overall in the most competitive camp in the country.

Why are we salivating over Scroggins?

Forget Scroggins, take Cam, take the number 1 2011 QB, find more O linemen

Yes, I agree with this. Let's load the boat on the linemen both O and D linemen. Now if Scroggins comes begging the UT coaches for a scholarship, then I say we hand him one and see what he can do on the practice field next year. Otherwise I say we don't waste too much further effort on this guy. We need 1 more QB in this class, hopefully we'll get a JUCO QB between Matt Simms and Cameron Newton, and get a stud QB in 2011 and we should be good for awhile in the QB position, and have depth in the O and D linemen (wow, that would be a nice change for once).

Personally, I've liked Scroggins better than Bray all along. If Scroggins commits and Bray jumps ship, so be it. All it means is that he was scared off by competition, and I would probably rather have him not come to UT in the first place.

If Scroggins commits and Bray is up to the competition, better for us.

I don't care that Scroggins already passed on us once. These are 17 and 18 year old kids. They change their mind.

Whatever happens, no bad comes out of Scroggins committing us, plain and simple.

JMO, for whoever cares.
