You can't your emotions or a 17 year olds reasoning (or lack thereof) get in the way of pure logic. We need another quarterback for next season. Beggars can't be choosey.

Personally, I've liked Scroggins better than Bray all along. If Scroggins commits and Bray jumps ship, so be it. All it means is that he was scared off by competition, and I would probably rather have him not come to UT in the first place.

If Scroggins commits and Bray is up to the competition, better for us.

I don't care that Scroggins already passed on us once. These are 17 and 18 year old kids. They change their mind.

Whatever happens, no bad comes out of Scroggins committing us, plain and simple.

JMO, for whoever cares.

I tend to agree.

Do people think because he wavered on his decision, he'd come in here and stink up the place on purpose? Thus jeopardizing any shot he has at making a career for himself professionally? I'm a little over this particular drama, but that's what recruiting is. He's deciding on the best place to go to school and play football. If you believe in holding some grudge on him for picking USC, you shouldn't want guys like Elam and Prater or any other currently committed player just because he didn't pick us or think about us first.

And that would just make you a moron.

Nobody treating them like babies. They have the right and the opportunity to change their minds anytime between now and February... or later (see Bryce Brown).

There is no rule that says these guys have to commit at some time prior to signing day just to make it convenient for you, me or the coaching staff.

I think that Bray is not better then scrog right now but in a year he will blow him away. Honestly I think we take a JUCO and let Bray red shirt or win his way in to a starting position. I do not like CN due to his lack of Pro style playing ability. He is a Vince young all over again. Strong arm and running ability. But not a pure pocket passer. It is hard to teach your OL to play their position when the QB counts to 2 then runs all around the backfield. I am not sold on Simms but I believe the group of 4 guys(NS, NL, Simms, and Bray) Could all battle it out on the field. Again I believe that getting scrogs would be bad because Even if he started Bray would take him over in a year and then he would end up in JUCO anyways. I think Scrog is in a bad situtation being between us and USC. Both programs pull in top QB's every year(we will be from now on) I believe that he will get dropped off in the back of the bunch and be a Matt Cassel without the actual talent. All in all I am happy with Bray and will be ok with a JUCO kid coming in. No need to get another QB from this class since it isnt a very good class.

If Bray redshirts this year he will never see the field at Tennessee if we get a qb for the 2011 class a true freshman would start over him his redshirt freshman year. IMO

Have you not watched any of his film or the elite 11 comp on ESPNU. All they did was say how after a year of a college S&C program he will be a beast. Stated he will do amazing things on a football field. If you think Bray sits then Scrog might as well join the managers on the sidelines.

If I was a top ten QB prospect, I wouldn't let competition scare me away from the chance to start for a major football program like Tennessee as a true freshman.

Not many programs have a guaranteed need for a true freshman starter. If you lose out in the competition you can still transfer somewhere else with 3 years of eleigibilty left and be in about the same place as if you had gone there originally.

According to another board I was just on, they are saying that the Chattanoga sports talk is reporting Elam is a Vol and that the coaches are talking to Scroggins dad.... Not sure what that means or what it is worth

They are getting their info from a poster on VQ. They have no sources...

From what I know, yes. He's only gave 1 other bit of info that I've ever seen. He said UT was starting to recruit Shakim Phillips very hard and that we really want him. Nobody had said anything about Shakim in forever. Some people even asked Hubbs about him and he didn't know anything. Then about a week later, and article came out about Phillips in which he said UT just started recruiting him very hard. He said every member of the staff wrote him a handwritten letter...

That is all I know about his credibility. He was all over the info on Phillips. I don't know if his info is correct, but he definitely talks to someone "in the know" imo...

if we can get phillips scroggins and elam and about 4 good lineman we have the number 1 class in the nation no doubt about it and possibly a trip to atlanta next year if we can mature quickly

We learned a long time ago not to trust the chattanoga sports radio talk shows, they are some of the most misinformed people I have ever seen.

I agree. How dare some teenage kid have to think twice about coming across the country to play for a struggling team that hasn't been relevant in a decade when the first or second best program this decade is in backyard and has made him their #1 QB target? Clearly he's just a bad person. There's no other explanation.
