All the good quarterbacks do not want to come to UT to sit behind Bray,Worley, and Peterman for 4 years or more. Next year we will get a top flight QB. No worries.
What's your take on our QB recruiting this year?
I haven't been following recruiting closely this year - but I can promise schools with much better, deeper and more proven talent at the QB position are recruiting QBs just fine.. so they aren't scared off by Bray (who will be gone before most are ready to play) and an average QB.. and a freshman..
It sounds good on paper, but I'd like to see the depth charts of where some of these big time QB's that we're missing on look like. Can you honestly name a situation in the SEC that is deeper than UT is perceived to be at QB? Off the top of my head I think Georgia, Florida, Bama, LSU and USC are all more attractive to top freshman recruits IMO.
Please tell me how UT is deep at QB.. We have an apparently really talented junior that has never won anything significant nor played a full season... A sophomore who seemed to be average or below average talent wise... And a true freshman who seems to have some potential but a ceiling still not close to as high as Bray's.

That's why I said perceived. The perception is that if a kid comes to UT he is immediately behind Bray, who could stay for his senior year, then he would face beating out a junior in Worley and also a hyped RS freshman in Peterman (hopefully). No matter how you spin it that is a fairly daunting depth chart for a kid unless he plans on redshirting a year and maybe sitting another. No one is beating out Bray next year and hopefully Peterman/Worley step right in after that. While I want to grab the best QB we can this year, I think 2014 will be much more attractive to recruits.
Not to mention our WR position could be completely different. Our incoming freshman having good seasons would go a long way in QB recruiting IMO.
No that is not a daunting depth chart at all - that is a very favorable depth chart for a QB coming in. QBs don't expect to come in and start their first year... just doesn't typically happen at good programs. Bray would by the time a freshman and this years class would be ready to play.
Worley just has a slightly better arm than Rick Clausen... and we just don't know much about Peterman.. an elite HS QB is not going to be scared off by Worley and Peterman.. and they would only have to wait behind Bray 1 year.
Yes, they would be waiting one year and if the combo of Peterman/Worley is as good as perceived, they would wait longer unless they beat them out. Which is my point. Why would a stud freshman QB come here when he could go to pretty much any other SEC school and compete for playing time next year. Tyler Wilson gone, AJ McCarron and no one else, LSU has more questions than UT, Aaron Murray and who else? What SEC school is in a better position than us at QB?
The issue is we haven't put a successful qb in the league since manning. If our current trio can reach their potential then you will see qbs lining up no matter the depth chart. Look at USC run it all started with Carson Palmer who ha crazy physical talent but mentally just never has grasped what it take to be the top 5 qb he can be. Sound familiar? A lot of similarities between him and bray. Hopefully bray can have that big one yr and set up a run on stud qbs
