Good post I agree many of this others may be higher recruited but Brays name will be called first on draft day

Has Bray backed off of his earlier comments that he wanted to wait until NSD to commit?? What do you think CLK's odds are to get a commit during/shortly after the visit?

He will commit during the visit. Book it. All the other schools he is looking at will never compare the our campus and facilities and the atmosphere he will see on that first game

well, we were unable to reel in the "big fish" (regardless of what kind of fish it actually was), but i didn't want him anyways... and just wait til he meets Berry over the middle! or until Rod decides he isnt allowed to live anymore! anyways, this is our guy! come to the hill bray!

"I text him yesterday and let him know I was up there and loving it," Ambles said. "I think we have a good chance to get him. If he wants to be successful then he'll know it's the best place for him. Why wouldn't he come? He's got a chance to play early and be a part of something special. We need quarterbacks."
Gotta love having Ambles in this kid's ear.

Beyond what the analysts report, I have nothing to stand on. But, I just have a feeling we may end up with the pick of the litter if we land Bray.

A year in the S & C program and some fine Southern cooking (no offense to Mrs. Bray), and we could have a hoss of a QB.

I heard from a reliable source that the coaching staff said he would be all vol as long as his visit goes well. I think there's a pretty good chance that will happen.

This source is reliable. He was right about Scroggins not coming here a month before he announced it, and he was right about Palardy 2 weeks before he announced his commitment to UT.

I'm not saying I wasn't hopeful about Scroggins, but I always felt a bit uneasy about landing him. Honestly, I can't tell if it's the fact that the Scroggins debacle numbed me a little bit or not, but I feel much more confident about getting Bray.

Thanks for the info, KoachKrab. Forgive me if I'm skeptical -- there have been many posts just like yours that turned out to be completely wrong, but it still deserves consideration.

Absolutely. Also, what Ambles is trying to figure out, is what all of us is trying to figure out. Why would he not come here? Why wouldn't any highly rated QB that wants a chance to play early not come to UT with our debt chart. That's one, I haven't figured out yet.

There is only one possible explanation.

This is a must get. We really need this kid for this class to be successful. We have to address the QB postion. We are really hurting there as well as OL after this year.

Sab and eric both let off the Scroggins issue months before he announced.. There is your big sign there..

Did Bray switch to WKU game?

Bray is our best chance at landing a "somewhat elite" QB. If he has a good visit, it wouldn't surprise me to see him switch soon afterward. Probably around two weeks or so, but he could do it on the visit as well.

I agree. IMO, he has the potential to eventually become a better college QB than a lot of the guys that are rated higher in this class.

I agree, He has a big upside. The problem is we don't have time to wait for kids to mature in the program. He is going to have to play and play early. What if Stephens went down next year? What then? We need someone who can come in and compete right off the bat.

That is why I see two QB's in this class. Newton would be the logical answer. But who knows.

we are going to have to pick up 2 qb's...it was one of the first things Kiffin said concerning the 2010 class. I think a guy that is a possibility is Hutson Mason.

Also, don't forget about Barry Brunneti. It's a major possibility to get him in Knoxville. Cam Newton sounds nice, but the staff has been in sparse contact with him and is waiting until he plays a couple games for his J.C. team in MS before they can even evaluate him...but he is still a possibility.

others that the staff is still pursuing(not as hotly though): Tommy Rees, Andrew Hendrix, Chase Rettig.

I don't think we take two HS kids. I think we take two next year. But this year we have to get someone young like Bray and need to get someone to fill that JR class void for next year like Newton , JMO. I don't think we take Mason unless Bray and Brunneti fall through.

I've always liked Strauss' ability, but he camped at UT and hasn't gotten any more interest...Alabama has since offered him (he is currently committed to Tulane) so I would expect him to maybe go to UA.

The staff has picked up their communication with Mason, and of course if Bray and Brunneti signed with UT they would not pick up Mason over either of those, IMO.

and in terms of the "junior void" don't forget Lamaison will technically be a junior next season...I realize he is struggling right now, but with a year and a half of this same system under his belt(if he sticks with it) he should make a fine #2 under Stephens...

and like I said, don't rule out Newton or any other Juco qb that might come out of the woodwork...this staff knows that J.C. players can only take you so far and would like to avoid that route if at all possible(in terms of the qb position), I think it's fair to say.
