'10 CA QB Tyler Bray (Commit/On Campus)

I for one believe Kiffin will play the best QB regardless of class. With that said, I really hope it's Bray. If Bray is not the best QB on campus when gets here then it will be a long year and UT will continue to rebuild.

I expect Eric Ainge type of production out of Bray (Eric in his last two season's that is). Actually I expect Drew Brees/Leinhart stats from our staff!

If he can come in and play at a higher level than Crompton as a freshmen UT will be in business.

I would love Eric Ainge production. Moreover, I would be ecstatic with Brees/Leinhart numbers.

I don't feel like looking all the way through the thread but does anybody know if Bray will be an early enrollee?

Nice. Should be able to start in 2010, then. I have no faith in Stephens if he can't beat out Crompton.

Bray should have nice chemistry with Nuke, Teague and any early enrollee WRs we get. Even a mediocre true freshman gives us a better chance to win than the QBs we have now.

Bray vs. Brantley.

If TN can win 8 I almost feel like Berry will want to come back and beat the Gators. He wants to be a millionaire but if his parents can get enough together to last one more season he will be the most famous TN player since P Manning.

ainges most successful year was his freshman year i think

no, his Jr. and Sr. years were far better...

Fr.- 109-198, 1452 yards, 55%, 17 TDs, 9 INTs
Jr.- 233-348, 2989 yards, 67%, 19 TDs, 9 INTs
Sr.- 325-519, 3522 yards, 63%, 31 TDs, 10 INTs

I would kill to have him at QB now...

I hope this kid is ready to play from down one next year. If he can't beat out the guy who can't beat out Crompton....

He will be groomed for success. He's coming early and needs to get his mind/work ethic straight. He has plenty of time to bulk up to 210, maybe even 220 if he starts now.

Man, as much as I want Bray to come in a play right away, I almost think it would be best to have him sit behind Stephens. Lets be honest, we're not gonna be in any better shape next year. Why not develop Bray physically and get him game reps when you can. Give this kid the an oppurtunity to be groomed (think NFL rookies). At the start of his sophomore season, Bray will have been in the system for around 20 months and would have 3 years to be program's QB. If he comes in and proves to be a world beater then give him the reigns. I don't see how UT loses (off the field) in this scenario.

I also think that this approach may be benificial in selling one of those 2011 studs. The angle where the frosh can come in and compete for a vacant position seems much more appealing than knowing that Bray has started as a true frosh and has another 3 years ahead of him. You all may disagree, but thats where I'm coming from.

I think we should let him come on board and compete for the job. If he is better than Ginger, so be it

Like I said, if he comes in and looks like a world beater then give him the job. Otherwise, don't cripple the kid before he ever has a chance. Our fan base is way too passionate and impatient for an 18 year old who is really struggling. We've talked a lot about how great it is that Kiff gives the best players the job, regardless of age. What we have to remember is that the QB position is a whole different monster. There are SO many factors that we, as a whole community, are not considering in this discussion.

That's true, but Peyton, Ainge, Schaeffer, Barkley, kid from Michigan, Pryor, Clauson have started.

Not that we should expect him too, but to coddle him from the pressures of the SEC and the NCAA is not the mentality our staff has

If he out performs Stephens in the camps/practices, there is no doubt he will start under center next year, especially with him coming in early. Kiffin has already said that he will play the best players.

I think Bray will need atleast one year to develop and let the staff teach him. With that said I think UT should go after a good JUCO QB. One that can come in a play to allow Bray to develop. A JUCO would give you a good starter for two years so if Bray does not bode well than UT 2011 QB has a year to develop and move past Bray. I am not Bray won't do well back you never know.

Also a good JUCO should be able to manage games well, which is something Crompton doesn't do well at all. I liked JPW alot for UA but even with all the records he broke for us I don't think he was a great QB, just really good at managing games and not making mistakes.

If JPW was our quarterback we would have had a really good chance to win yesterday, and we would have beaten UCLA by at least 14.

Exactly. All UT needs is a good QB for next year that can manage games and make no mistakes. With the other talent in place they will be there. You don't have to be great to win games. JPW went 12-2 last year as an average QB.

Bray will NOT start early next year...He needs to put on some muscle and learn the playbook first..Being realistic is a beautiful thing...He could be a incredible QB for us in the future but damn let the kid get on campus and get in the weight room first.
