Assuming he's the JV qb, best guess would be 9th, possibly 10th. We'll find out for sure where ever they live in Knoxville. Some HS coach there maybe smiling alot between now and then!

Austin is a sophomore. He started last year as the jv QB. Austin has a lot of the same characteristics as Tyler. He has a great sense for the game, makes good decisions and is a leader. What he doesn't have (yet) is Tyler's physical abilities. Austin is a young sophomore. Started school one year ealry, so he really could just as easily be a freshman and physically that is where he is at. He hasn't started grwoing yet. Not sure he is going to sprout up and be as tall as Tyler, but definetly when he develops physically (he already as the maturity) then we too will be a very good QB. If I had to guess at this point he wil most likely be a division 1 QB somewhere.

Every game that Crompton stays in and Stephens sits on the bench paves the way for Bray to (learn the playbook in the spring, work his but off in the summer voluntary workouts, and fall camp, and) be the starting QB next fall.

I think They send recruits basic playbooks to get the jist of it but not the entire thing in case they decommit. I think this kid will be huge. Coming in at xmas is a huge thing for his start at playing. I still think Stephens and lamison will battle for starter and half way through bray will be slowly introduced.

Our fans are too cruel to throw him in straight away. He throws a INT and the stadium will go crazy calling him crompton 2.0 cant fry the kids head freshman year.

The fans may boo but I don't think the crucify him the way Crompton was. He's a freshman. Crompton was essentially a senior last year and he never improved. Nobody was on his case early but he never improved and was always bad. Of course they were going to throw him under the bus this year. He didn't improve yet again. I think the fans do fine with a true freshman. None of us were this hard on Ainge as a freshman.

He runs the 40 in 5.0-5.1 and his verticle is 28-29" but he sees the field and moves enough to avoid contact. As fans you should support Crompton because all he needs is confidence. The fans can help that.

I hope he's faster than that... I'm a 16 year old and last time I ran the 40 I did it in a little over 4.9.

Gotta hope for a good offensive line because he won't be able to get away from defensive pressure with that speed.

I respectfully disagree. Crompton needs more than confidence. A lot more.

His parents took him to a guy who coached some of the top quarterbacks and said his confidence was cured. If it's cure then it's not the problem. It's decision making and accuracy. Takes him forever to decide where he is going with the ball and then he under or over throws wide open receivers for an interception.

He rushed for 35 yards the other day and 3 touchdowns the week before. He is fine. 40 times are overrated. It's a straight line. If he can make people miss and buy time, he is fine. Peyton wasn't the best scrambler but he does it on occasion in the pros. And no, I am not calling him Peyton. :p

On the other side... We're not signing him to run around people.
He's coming to throw the ball. If he can get the pass off accurately, I'm fine with him being slow.

No way that Bray is not chomping at the bit to get to K-Town RIGHT NOW! He could be speacial. I love the thought of him leading this team in 1-2 years. Go Vols. I have faith in this staff. We might take our lumps, but we will win games we shouldn't this year. I love the direction...and love the recruits to come. VolNation is ready for the next great stable of Volunteers!!!

There ya go. :p

I'm just not too worried about his speed. Especially because it won't be in a straight line anyways. He'll be running sideways. As a pro style quarterback, he doesn't need to run. 3 step drop and pass. Sounds good to me. If quick decision and quick release. He could be the real deal as a pro style qb. Kind of scary that it works better in the NFL than college but oh well. I believe :)

I for one believe Kiffin will play the best QB regardless of class. With that said, I really hope it's Bray. If Bray is not the best QB on campus when gets here then it will be a long year and UT will continue to rebuild.
