'10 DE Delvin Jones

oh i agree with you there, with the lack of depth, but i was only saying in the case that we developed alot more depth. baring injry do you think he will see the field at tackle this year?

plus a good strength and conditioning coach can take it off of you just as well as put it on, i went to E&H @ 6'3 235 lbs and by my rs freshman year i was 6'3 215-220

Douglas is competing for the starting job now. His pass pro isn't the best yet. He gave up like 2 sacks to Gerald Williams today, but he's a solid run blocker and will only get better.

aslso everyone said kiffen didnt roll with the "wildcat" to, but yet they had nuke doing it other day in practice, one thing ive learmd is good offensise's adapt, randy sanders didnt do it and he got caned, clawson didnt do it caned, last guy that did it was cutt and he left on his on.

Maybe so, but the flex TE is something that would completely change the type of offense. The wildcat, not too much.

Then again, idk how much we'll be running Pahokee. Nuke fumbled out of it 3 times and dropped a perfect snap.

He could very well see the field at tackle this year, yes. He's playing that well. He may overtake the guy ahead of him. RT is far from locked up.

come on now yo dont hate sanders that much do you??? after all the was the 3rd string QB in the 86 SB victory !!!! LOL. wonder if he ever made it onto the field when he was behind francis in the late 80s i cant remember. but thats good to hear that douglas is doing that well at tackle, i dont have the time to keep up with much more than recruting till i get to start watching the games on saturdays that much.

ill read something here and there but other than recruting thats it.

I don't see how everyone is saying DE when we have commitments from J.C. Copeland & J. Smith and are still in on some highly rated players at the DE position.

I think Jones could be the big time TE that this offense needs at 6'6 230-250 matched up on 5'10-6'2/3 linebackers.

If the guy can be as productive at TE as he is at DE, then i'm sure the coaches will be all for it, but it's hard to dismiss the numbers he had at DE...how on earth does a DE even get 9 ints?...he obviously can catch the ball!

Batting it up and catching it. Dropping back into coverage. Playing some down at linebackers. No, I agree though. He has good hands. I am sure he intimidated a lot of those 17 year old quarterbacks though. Not to mention a fair amount of those quarterbacks probably sucked. Haha. Oh sucky high school kids getting beat up on by big time prospects. I love it.

He will not play TE he will get his first shot at WR but he could play anywhere

i'd say he just snatches the ball out of the quarterbacks hand as he releases it.

Freindly advice: If you come on here making these matter-of-fact statements with nothing to back them up other than your hunch, you are going to get blasted over and over again.

you don't know that for sure. our needs will change before he gets on campus and who knows where he'll end up. i wouldn't claim your word as fact too often in here without some sort of information backing it up.

i have something to back it up head to GVX and read their article......

Double fail. Using GVX as any kind of reliable source of information and suggesting that there is something in the article about him not playing TE.

Jones will outgrow the WR position most likely and could be a force at TE. Time will tell where he will end up.

the staff has said he will get first shot at receiver and he has said that's his preference. It may not have come from GVX but it's not like he is offering up info without proof. You last paragraph is pure speculation while the WR part is fact.

I seriously doubt that his first shot will be at WR..especially not with the class we have coming in. Do you have anything at all to base this on??

he said it in an interview

“The staff is looking at me as an Athlete but are saying I will try Wide Receiver first,” said Jones. “I told the staff though I will play anywhere they put me. I would like to play Wide Receiver but if not its totally ok and I will try another spot.”

Don't you think I'm aware of that? Really?

The dude said straight up he wouldn't play TE. There was nothing wrong with the post he was attempting to correct. It's been said several times that he is going to get his first shot at WR, but given his willingness to play anywhere he's needed, TE is certainly not out of the question. The dude is almost too big already for a WR so I wouldn't consider it speculation that he would be TE size once he's in a S&C program.

Yeah...what he said. It's Sabanocchio and Vader's job to pontificate here. :p

Oh yes I'm positive you knew that. However, you called a post "double-fail" because he offered an opinion yet followed it up with one of your own. Has the staff said he will go to TE or DE? He might but that is just a guess you are making which is no more double-fail than his. If you preface each post with IMO it might make a bit more sense.

What's important is that the guy is extremely athletic and with a good attitude and strong work ethic, on either side of the ball could be a very very good player.

Just remember, we're looking pretty well at DE and I do believe he will probably end up there just because of his film (looks more natural there), but our depth at TE is not exactly amazing going into 2010.

Dude. Look at his post. "He won't play TE. He could play anywhere." It's contradictory at the very least. I wasn't the only one who jumped on him for making such a stupid post. Go jump on somebody else.

An S&C program would easily put another 15 pounds on him and he would be the perfect size/build for TE. He certainly has the speed and athleticism to do it.
