'10 DE Delvin Jones

An S&C program would easily put another 15 pounds on him and he would be the perfect size/build for TE. He certainly has the speed and athleticism to do it.

Exactly. Furthermore, I am not convinced that he could legitimately acclimate into DE in college. He's always unblocked in his film, for the most part, and there's a better possibility for better prospects that project at DE than Delvin. Delvin is an athletic kid, but we need playmakers on the offensive side of the ball, and he fits the bill.

great opinions but no more right than the other guy you piled on because he doesn't agree with your assessment. I'm sure he won't disagree with you again and learned his lesson

Jones is a huge pickup in all, but I heard he has a 2.0 GPA and has yet to take ACT or SAT.

Anybody else heard this?

I think this staff is very good at getting players like this quailfied. That is if the kid is willing to put the work in. You look at this past class and all but one make it out of several "borderline cases". I think Brousard and Jones will both make it. If this staff didn't they would not be taking commit's from them. These scholarships are to important right now in turning this thing around.

This kid has as much upside as anyone out there. He has NFL written all over him. I am sure these coaches have told him this. All he has to do is get in school.

Jason Witten 2.0?

Great post, Eric. Your summary statement is so spot on, considering this kid's talent, I'm surprised he didn't generate even more attention on VN.

If he's solid, he's going to be an awesome Vol.

espn is a JOKE.... "Jones is a tall, wiry kid. He does not look to have much bulk on his frame"
I'm sorry but 230 pounds is not "wiry"......... 6' 6" 185 pounds (Tyler Bray) is wiry

I just don't get why ESPN doesn't invest more in building a good recruiting service.
