'10 FL ATH Matt Elam

I hope your right also. Elam could come in and contribute right away and be a very special player.

If we get Riley/Elam, I see something like

Riley/Oliver? FS
Elam/Myles SS

Jackson/Edwards/Gordon/Meline CB

Of just the Kiffin recruiting classes. Looks decent enough to me

I've seen all the "next Eric Berry" talk, but I just don't see how this kid stays at safety. He's going to have 8 months of a college strength program before his freshman year and he's already a big boy. From the looks of things, he may just flat-out outgrown the position.

The question is, do we really want to take a potential star out of position if we bring in suitable linebackers?? He knows the safety position very well apparently, why change a good thing? He could be dominant

He could be a tyler mays type. But better. If he bulks up he will have the talent of Berry and the beast like physicality of mays.

My friend who is a GA fan has a friend that is in close with many TN boosters. My friend, Steve, claims everything this guy has said before has come true. Supposedly he has gotten word that Matt Elam is now a silent commit to us after this weekend. Anyone else heard this?
So just to be clear, the OP heard from his friend Steve who has another friend who heard from from boosters that Elam is a silent commit.

Put it in the freakin' bank, then. Stone cold, 5-star lock that this is true. No doubt.

Chain of rumor:

Bradstar Vols ---> "Steve" ---> Steve's very reliable friend ---> UT boosters ---> Elam(?)

If somehow we would land Riley and Elam, either Janzen would be moved to CB and/or Elam would be moved to LB. We will get our best players on the field...

Ironically we are only losing 1 player out of our secondary after this year (Berry). I think Elam may get looked at as LB even if we don't get Riley. Depends largely on how much weight he can put on, IMO.
