'10 FL ATH Matt Elam

Ironically we are only losing 1 player out of our secondary after this year (Berry). I think Elam may get looked at as LB even if we don't get Riley. Depends largely on how much weight he can put on, IMO.

Agreed, but I was kinda talking about the depth when these players are juniors and seniors...

all im saying is why post a rumor if you don't know if its true?

I think that would make it no longer a rumor.

There is a lot of smoke going on right now though that Elam will decommit so it will be interesting to see what plays out in the coming weeks. I am hoping the family connections to Meyer can keep him a Gator but his quotes don't have me very confident.

Nice name, let's hope you live up to that billing :good!: Welcome to VN

Thank you. I definitely don't plan to start any trouble just like to come on the Vols boards every so often to get another perspective. Usually just reading.

Well welcome. Most posters here appreciate an objective, but sensible point of view from opposing fans. And the ones that don't, well don't take too much offense. Anonymity makes a lot of people on the internet turn into tough guys.

It always nice to get info from a Georgia fan friend of a friend that knows a friend that has a contact inside the UT athletic dept. At least the rumor is positive, Elam's comments after his visit sounded like he enjoyed his visit and the coaches. Safety is important in Monte's defense and you have Eric Berry recruiting as well. :crossfingers:

It would be clutch if we can sign Riley and Elam, moving Elam to LB.

The only reason he isn't going to Florida is our depth chart. Bringing in Riley would likely push Elam to WVU...unless Elam enrolls early and then Riley commits which would be a major kick in the nuts to Elam and I would get a good laugh out of it.

its all about the almighty gators huh.....us lowly Vols only get your scraps......I think you know the rest of the story..... _ _ _ _ _ !

I am not saying anything like that but Matt Elam has flat-out said that the Florida depth chart is the reason he is looking at other schools. "I don't feel like I have to wait to play" was an exact quote.

Wow, didn't know Elam was this highly rated. 5-star #2 DB, just behind Allen, who we are also recruiting. It'll be great to get the #1 ranked recruit from Florida.

He could be a tyler mays type. But better. If he bulks up he will have the talent of Berry and the beast like physicality of mays.

lol

Taylor Mays you mean and he is no where near Mays. Mays is 6'3'' and runs in the 4.3's.

Elam is at most 6'1'' but more likely 6' and runs a 4.45. I would love to see him move to WLB tbh.

um... i know. that's why i sarcastically said that. i thought LV would have picked up on that.

Dang it.:banghead2: Ya know, as I was typing the response, it occurred to me that you might be being sarcastic, but i really couldn't tell...

My friend got the info from a very reliable source...thats as far as it goes. If you dont believe it or find it to be credible then take it that way. No need for your negative insight.
