'10 FL ATH Matt Elam

My friend got the info from a very reliable source...thats as far as it goes. If you dont believe it or find it to be credible then take it that way. No need for your negative insight.

We have had our share of my sister's brother's friend of a friend who hangs out with this guy posts. People are skeptical, because out of most of those posts maybe 10% are correct. So, don't take it personally or call other people negative when your not the first person to make a prediction based on third hand information that does or doesn't come true. The statistics don't support your claim, but thank you for posting it.

The question is, do we really want to take a potential star out of position if we bring in suitable linebackers?? He knows the safety position very well apparently, why change a good thing? He could be dominant

If he gets much bigger, he won't have the speed to play safety.

People need to get the John Chavis thought process out of their heads. If Elam comes here it will be as a safety. Monte loves to have a big safety in his defense, a la John Lynch. Elam in all likelihood will be playing the EB hybrid position that Lynch did before him. That position and scheme made John Lynch tons of money and pro bowl appearances.

lol

Taylor Mays you mean and he is no where near Mays. Mays is 6'3'' and runs in the 4.3's.

Elam is at most 6'1'' but more likely 6' and runs a 4.45. I would love to see him move to WLB tbh.

Cause 4.45 is a stroll in the park.. He would probably be a solid linebacker, but I think the post was why remove him from safety immediately? I don't think you take the #2 DB and force him to LB. We have some young talent at LB anyway.

He could be a tyler mays type. But better. If he bulks up he will have the talent of Berry and the beast like physicality of mays.

I was thinking like Mays also but you're getting ahead of yourself. What are you basing it off of that he will be better than Mays and have the talent of Berry? He has never taken a college snap. Ben Martin was a beast coming out of high school. He is currently a junior and has done next to nothing. Let's not get ahead of ourselves and start saying he will be better than Mays and as good as Berry.

A guy on VQ who claims to have sources says that Elam all but committed to us this weekend. So, I like the smoke out there but I'm not convinced.

Calm down. It was an analogy, maybe a simile, but definitely a comparison not to be taken at face value immediately..

Eric Berry is sort of playing linebacker...

Matt Elam is labeled as a safety but I would label him as an athlete.

Exactly. I simply stated some info which I personally believe. I didnt say it was 100 % true. I was just sharing info. My main point of this thread was to see if anyone else had heard of this.

To calm down I would have to be worked up...

I would take Mays over Elam any day of the week. Ask me three years from now though.

Well, right or wrong, I appreciate it. That's what makes this place one of the best recruiting sites in the UT network.

Since the MLB has to do a lot of coverage in Monte's scheme, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up there.

Personally I hope everything I read like this is true, but if turns out to not be I wouldnt call the person giving the info unrealiable. These are 17-19 yr old kids that probably change there mind all the time since its such a big decision. Now if the poster has or had a history of being unreliable then thats different. Keeps things interesting other than reading someone bash Lane Kiffin or UT which is what I have been reading about lately and dont care for it.

Wasn't meant to be. You're the one throwing out personal attacks. Not to mention moving Eric Berry to linebacker, and changing Matt Elam's position and destination at your whim. Nevermind the people's opinion who have watched him play countless times in HS games and camps, interview, and write articles about the kid. No, no. You know what position he is based on..well, nothing. But I am stupid, and "scary."

Back to the subject, Matt Elam will in all likelihood be a safety. He plays safety and is being recruiting as such but programs with the tradition of FL and TN. He isn't moving to linebacker because a couple posters think he's "too big." John Lynch didn't run a 4.45 in his heyday, I can promise you that.

I always doubt the friend of a friend of a cousin stuff, not cuz who it comes from, but the whole process, i could only hope it is true. But i could see why it would be silent i.e NuKesse Richardson and those florida schools messing stuff up faxing letters to the wrong school lol, but seriously. haha
