Taylor Mays .... elite? have you seen him play. He is HORRIBLE. No instincts at all. If he wasnt such a physical specimen *pause* he'd be an avg USC safety

give Will Hill some time, he played many positions in HS. Hes awesome on special teams and improving every week on defense

I think Elam has the makings of a real good College Safety

. Not sure but that just maybe a UT thing if your Safeties are your leading tacklers then your cb and lb are getting done in. Guess thats why UF has the SEC number one overall defense and number one passing D. Because our LB's and CB's tackle on don't allow our safeties to make many plays. Only thing he hasn't done this year is make many ints but had four last year and 2 were pick-6's.

Safeties generally have more tackles than corners. You brag about him being top 5 in tackles, but say your defense is number one because your safeties don't have to make tackles. Something doesn't add up.

Only start game in "joker" if we are playing a passing team such as Ark or when we were down to 3 DT's. Our base defense is still the 4-3. Didn't start the MSU or UT game in that package.

+1. Any safety worth having is usually equally good at run support as well as pass coverage.

Yes. Especially in the modern game. Other crap might have held true in the 60s, 70s and 80s. Jimmy Johnson changed all that permanently.

thru 9 games Will has started 7 games the only changes have come with Black and Wright. Meyer has stated that he starts the safety that has the best week of practice since we have three starters basically.
