'10 FL ATH Matt Elam

Riley is a safety/RB - so that has nothing to do with it potentially pissing Mack Brown off. Not saying they're recruiting him as a RB necessarily - but it could still rub a recruit the wrong way if they're promised something.

And there's not such a thing as "Marlon Brown all over". Kid was a grandma's boy to the highest degree.

reportedly to mnake Elam happy they are claiming to bring the other players in at the other position. and mack Brown has been promised that no other Rbs will be recruited. so thats how saying Riley is coming in as "RB" would/could rub Mack Brown the wrong way

Mack is solid only OV he was going to take was UGA last week but he cancelled that trip. IMO he's more solid than any UF commit besides Watkins and Dowling.

I'm sure he is - but he hasn't been rubbed the wrong way yet.
Possible but I think this kid understands the recruiting game so he isn't getting "caught up" like Matt... worry about who the team is bringing in for visit. TJ is one thing because he could be a major program RB but Riley not so much IMO.

I would honestly wonder about a recruits manhood and ability to work hard for his spot if he is a 5*, Top 20 player in the COUNTRY.....and he is scared of other players being brought in at his position. I would want a guy who looked at it like " Go ahead, bring in player "X" at safety too.....his scholly will be wasted sitting behind me for 4 years".

I agree with you completely. the fact is that some of these kids have never been tested to compete for a position...most have tremendous talent and have been able to use that and get by without discipline and technique. not saying this specifically about elam, but I think it intimidates some of them.

I guess I just dont get it. If I am a 5* recruit, I could care less what other player the team brings in at my position. They will not beat me out, and if they do, I have noone to blame but MYSELF....because whether they will admit it or not, the coaches would DEFINITELY want the big-time, 5-star guy to win the position.....cause it helps get the next highly rated guy 2-3 years later.

i would have the same mentalitly that you speak of above, but some kids don't think that way.

It's an ego thing to most of them. They can't handle sharing the spotlight period.

How is Mack the only RB you have? I thought Travon Van was going to be a RB as well? Either way, Elam supposedly dislikes Riley regardless of what position he plays. Something rubbed him the wrong way about him when they visited together at UT.

Van is listed as ATH so by only rb i meant "true" rb....yeah I'm not sure what Matt issue is but he's a great talent and I just don't see how anyone with his skill set would be worried about other recruits.

i think elam could come in right away and be teamed up with jackson. could have the goon squad 2.0 his recruitment is not over and we are a player in it

Most Gators I've talked to prefer Van over Brown and I'm sure other coaches are using that against UF.

Players of that caliber(Elam) have that issue alot. It isn't so much having other recruits at the same position but recruits of close to the same caliber. He wants to know he is the man at his position, not just one of the men.

I blv we also are in need of linebackers, But with savion frazier and reveiz coming back next year along with some of the guys who got experience this yr, and lamarcus thompson our linebacking core will be good, they were doing well before the injuries to thompson and frazier if we got elam him and jj would be side by side next yr. And we could move rogan back to corner, where he is stronger imo and possibly ahmad dixon if he signed, if he could play corner, could be wrong there.

Rogan is a first day corner. He is too small for safety IMHO. What have you heard on Dixon playing corner? Interesting!
