'10 FL ATH Matt Elam

My take on this is Meyer and Foley couldn't get a yes from the Top 3 on the wishlist so having heard some of the feed back and bad press with recruits, he decides to pull a Lute Olson for the 2010 season....Coming back around Spring game but steps down right before fall practice starts. He will run the program from behind the "booth" like Barry Alvarez did his first year after stepping down until Foley and UF can get the coach of choice. Book it! This class is to important to UF for it to get wholesaled by the rest of the SEC and Noles.

wow, thanks for that. What do most Gator fans think the future really holds with Meyer? How many more games does he coach at Florida??

Clark and Elam were both planning to enroll at Florida in January.

Instead, Clark said the two players will likely stay at Dwyer for another semester to allow more time to make a decision.

Daniels spent time with Elam on Sunday and said along with Florida he’s considering UT, Georgia, Florida State and Miami.

Daniels said Elam has become “sick” of the recruiting process.

“He didn’t want to talk to anybody,” Daniels said of Elam. “I think he knows something’s wrong up in Gainesville and the process is starting all over again.”

Dwyer tight end Gerald Christian, who’s also committed to Florida, spoke with Elam on Sunday.

Christian said Elam was “mad” about the uncertainty regarding Meyer.

Meyer status has two Gator commitments looking again at UT GoVolsXtra

I watched the press conference and came away thinking "what was that?" Is the general conclusion that we learned basically nothing about the future of Urban Meyer at Florida?

I'm a life long gator fan and I've lived thru Pell-Hall and Zook-gate so im for the university not a coach. If Meyer is our coach then I'll support him but if he needed to step down for health reason thats what he should have done. In my gut this was more about this recruiting class more than anything. He'll take some title close to "Player and Program development" and bring in the coach from Utah next season. It's one thing for Kiffin to pull off a Top 10 class at the last minute but Whittingham would never come close to that this late in the game.

Well put, but I think he may have jumped the gun on announcing then changing his mind "sort of". It could really hurt bad if recruits see through this transparent ploy!

Well, Kiffin started Dec 1st. That's almost an extra month.

So HileahGator do you feel like this was in a way a try to get fla. back in the limelight?? I mean of course they are still a top notch team but it almost seemed in a way that this was almost to get attention, which it did. In his press confrence he kept talking about how much he loved his players and how they were like sons and so on and talked about how he recruited them and he would stand by there side..Almost seemed like a play to let recruits know how dedicated he was, that even with bad health he would be by there side or whatever. This move seems to me like it was a front to bring the media back on to florida as oppose to texas or alabama.

Remember when Elam was being interviewed after he reaffirmed to Florida and he was asked about what Lane Kiffin would think..

I believe his reply was " oh well, I'll just beat him".. I wonder if that comment keeps us out of this.. or if the door on UT has already been shut..

Meyer is fixing to go down hill after this year anyway Brantley cant run the Spread Option offense and they dont have the right players to run a Balanced Spread and I think that is why he (Meyer) is doing all of this

Monte and Lane have still been contacting Elam after that statement so I say NO on both counts!

I think the one thing that would draw him to UT is Clark. For some reason he really wants to play with him, and if he does leave UF and goes anywhere other than FSU I think ya'll will have a very good chance if you land Clark. But I wouldnt put anything past Urban lying to this kids just to get them to stay....IMO its gonna be hard for either of us to land him.

Football use to be a game that was played on Saturdays but won by wednesday. Now you have to play the game seven days a week. Meyer is cunning enough to know how to play the media. Not saying that he doesn't have a health problem but this is about the "train" he has going. He talk about the "Art of War" once in an article because Bill Belichick recommend that he read it so yes I believe it's a method to the Meyer's madness.

Agreed. About the Meyer deal right? I'm not so sure if he's gunna leave with the relationship he has with URban even if he did lie...

I would have agreed until what I heard Michael L say last night. Also, Matt Elam is no longer going to be an EE so I think there is a legit chance he leaves UF.

So hopefully he opens it up. Rather him go to FSU then UF. I bet you would rather vice versa too.

Yea from what i've heard ya'll may have a legit shot at him. If he leaves I think its going to be between ya'll and FSU. No chance he goes to WVU IMO.
