'10 FL ATH Matt Elam

Elam looks like a future linebacker to me...Riley for some reason reminded me of Taylor Mays(physically) when I saw him at UA game because he looks to have the type of build that could carry a lot of muscle and not lose speed. I would hate to see them both together but ole PC leaving might have swayed Riley to gatorland

Personally I wish he would have stayed with FSU...now look for Dorsey to drop how firm he is to UF down this week. I believe he decommits from UF for UT next weekend on his visit. IMO I feel that Dprsey has an issue with Matt. If could only pick one, I'm going with Dorsey. I'm also hearing that Riley gave a verbal today. I emailed Mike L to get the scoop.
as Elam is enrolling Monday there's still some time to find out what position exactly they expect him to play. That would have an affect on the decision of Dorsey, who may also play cornerback.

We need depth at outside linebacker for when the current juniors Jones, Brandon Hicks and Edwards graduate after next season and Elam can definitely play that position. Or running back for that matter with Chris Rainey moving his primary position to slot receiver.

I think we lose Dorsey to grades or UT( I don't think he cares for the Matt Elam thing)..Dowling asked to play WR so that opens up two spots at safety and Matt may end up at olb/SS(in the box) if we switch to 3-4 or 3-3-5. Think Meyer is just getting the best players atp.... I would have taken Riley over Elam not because of talent but opening up cali in Pete heads to NFL.

Lol at dorsey dropping his percentage... That guy is hilarious.... 85 to 65 to 90 to ...... haha
sounds like he would get a long with Chris Rainey.

Rainey said he’s been rehabbing the injury since summer workouts, but there’s constant pain when he practices and has had to stop practicing on numerous occasions. He’s received cortisone shots before each game to take some of the pain away, but Rainey said that it only cures about 93 percent of the pain.

How many can you take this year?
they are looking at taking 27-28 if the right players want to hop on board.

Dunlap is gone so that leaves us currently with 24 open scholarships spots at the moment. probably going to count on attrition to handle the rest if we end up with that many.

EDIT:
keep in mind that post graduate Travon Van is still in grades limbo

in response to Dietrich Riley I haven't heard anything directly about him committing. there's something about an UA All-American on campus today, maybe that's him.

Is this a Florida Gator board?

I really can't tell right now...

Why don't you guys go discuss this stuff on a Gator message board with people who give a rat's a** about you're DB/LB rotation of the future...just a suggestion

Possibly, I dunno. Do you know? We have the WR's to burn him like that all day long. Do you doubt the receivers we are bringing in?

Do you doubt the DB's UF is bringing in? Elam could end up at RB or even LB when it's all said and done. What I can say for sure is that you won't see him lined up outside one-on-one with too many WR's on the college level. I mean, it might happen from time to time down the road when he is much older and more polished, but it's not going to be happening anytime soon. Remember, he's not a lock down corner, he's a safety (maybe) and he's better at sitting back and reading the play, not manning up some speedy wide out.

Good call LV. I guess he wouldn't cover Ambles, because he would get burned all day.

Listen, Ambles could potentially burn Major Wright, a 3 year starter, all day. Some people just don't have good man cover skills. Ever.

That doesn't mean that Major isn't a good safety.

Alright, I'll take that under consideration. That just means our WR's will be more polished down the road too.
