Dont get it clouded. Palardy is far and away the most important player in this class for us. I think hes all Vol and will be a great one at that but if something did fall through last minute we do have a very good fall back in Acosta as well.

True, but you need someone to keep the other team out of range as well. When you are punting from your own endzone and you have someone that can put the other team back on their own 40 or 45, that is a true weapon. Gives the defence a chance to change the field position to their advantage. It all counts in the outcome of the game. I'd rather have it than not!!!

Plus remember that last game Tenn played @ Miami, and Colquitt punted over that dudes head, and he muffed it, and it cost them the game?

Don't get it clowded, he is not. He is very important but to say a kicker is most important is a little off. If you want my opinion Tyler Bray is probably the most important player in this class for us, just because of his upside.

Yup, very overlooked, and very important.

He could potentially be as important as a 100 yard receiver.

If our opponents starting field position last year was 30 - 35, and this season is 20 - 25... and each of our punts are 5-10 yards longer, he could be responsible for 80-100 yards for us and against them.

Thats before you even kick a field goal. Which he's pretty good at, as well.

Very important player.

The field position we have given up recently with terrible kick offs, terrible punting and the missed FGs that have cost us in the past seasons say otherwise.

I am not on board that Palardy is the most important recruit this class (you need people to get you into field goal range first), but he is very important. This is great news and I pray ends the roller coaster of recruitment.

that's where we disagree...our special teams play this last year was just pathetic...missed and blocked field goals cost us several games...how many kick-offs were into the end zone for touchbacks?...what was Chad Cunningham punting average?...what was Daniel Lincoln's longest field goal attempt that he made?...how many times did the former coach go for it on fourth downs instead of attempting field goals?...Michael Palardy is the most important recruit that this class needs the most...JMO...go VOLS!

Were you paying attn during the 2008 season? I agree he can potentially be huge.

Also not saying its wrong and I've heard it over and over again that he can punt but I've never seen a single highlight video of it.

I have seen him punt and hes possibly a better punter than he is kicker, but VERY good at both. Against Byrnes he put the kickoffs out of the back of the EZ and one punt he was in his own EZ and punted it well past the 50.

Kid is legit and a weapon in his own right. Personally I think kickers are one of the most important parts of the team. They can have more to do with field position and the score than any other one position.

Coach Conrad just posted on TOS. He said that Michael and his family actually did enjoy the trip to Miami alot. But he said Michael had eliminated Miami because of his love for the city of Knoxville and the game day atmosphere. He said the trip really showed Michael how attached he really is to Rocky Top.
