Also, I love the line about how Gran told him what exactly he had to do academically blah blah blah.

Thats something our staff is known for.

Rivals.com ranks Williams as a three-star prospect who is on the rise with college coaches as several schools, including Ole Miss, came in last week and offered Williams after evaluating him. Once again, Gran's footing in South Florida had the Vols out in front on this one; Williams had gotten his Tennessee offer very early in the process and indicated it was a key in helping the Vols build and maintain momentum in getting his pledged commitment over Florida State, among others.
from the article.

You have to love this staff. They evaluate first, offer first and don't quit until they get their man. Then they keep the relationship up and protect their investments. There is no lazy when it comes to this staff recruiting. Most staffs send one or two coaches out to a few players and the rest wait on film to evaluate...not this staff.

Keep it up.

I agree

We need to fill up our 30 spots as soon as possible!

I mostly agree with that except ...

While some kids really respond to the schools that show the earliest interest and stay close to them the whole time, don't forget that there will be some "Bryce Browns" out there that will wait until late in the process, so we need to save a couple spots for them too.

I was kind of shocked to see this because, the last time i spoke to him, he was between Florida and Geogia. This kid is no nonsense..He is a very serious kid. I tried to recruit him to Killian and went to his house to talk to him and his father. He doesnt talk much. Quiet kid with a great attitude. He works very hard and he is HUGE!!!!! This is a extremely good pick up for the Vols. This kid is about 6-0 and is massive. I wont be surprised to see him end up about 6-2 when it is all said and done with. If he is at Gulliver, he definitely wont have grade issues.

this was posted on TOS by someone that says they know him personally

This kid has a nose for the football. Im thrilled to have him. I am glad that this staff totally ignores the bs "stars" and simply looks at the players and determines whether they can play SEC football.

Monte may have played a big role in this as well. I remember NYC posted on Scout 3 days ago that Monte was at Gulliver looking at Ralph...

Why is that kid not double teamed? Hell, why don't they block the kid?

Stars don't matter worth a diddly squat. But I would guess if he has a strong year his senior year and looks good in camp then he will be a four star prospect.

Heck of a tool to have in Monte. Walk into a Florida H.S., talk to a H.S. coach, recruit a kid, convince him that he can make it to the NFL, close the deal.

did anyone read this when it first came out? I was going back through the archives after Scroggins' recent interview and was quite pleased with the confidence in this report.

LB Williams picks Vols after visit by Gran, Monte Kiffin : Football Recruiting : GoVolsXtra.com

My game, to me, is awesome. I do everything right. I make big plays for my team. I always come through.

We are certainly bringing attitude back. This defense is going to play with speed and flair, that's for sure.

I wanna bump Ralph, and give him some love. He is a very confident, smart, intense, and high-motor kid. He will fit in great with Monte's defense and I am excited to have this kid in orange and white.
If all of our players carried themselves like he does, then we would be well on our way to being the feared team we once were.

We should seriously make another sub-forum, for the main recruiting topics on current commits.

According to a new rivals article, he likes Ole Miss but is still committed and will be here for the SC game.

Also..

Williams reports a 2.6 core GPA and said he has taken the SAT once and "didn't do too well" and will retake the test again on Oct. 10. He said he has been using a tutor to prepare for the re-test.
