'10 FL QB Christian Green

Dual-threat quarterback
Tampa (FL) Tampa Catholic

Ht: 6-foot-2
Wt: 190 lbs
Forty: 4.55 secs
Class: 2010 (High School)

I saw Green play twice late last season and was impressed by his athletic ability. While I think he can be a quarterback at the next level in the right system, he has the most upside as a receiver. Green has good hands and had 10 touchdown receptions as a freshman before moving to quarterback as a sophomore. He is so dangerous with the ball, especially in space. He has the ability to make people miss and has a great burst and another gear.
At this time, I think Green is a candidate to be a national top-50 prospect, and it will be interesting to see if he sticks at quarterback or moves to receiver this fall. The current backup quarterback at Tampa (Fla.) Catholic is Doug Williams Jr. If he's ready, it's likely Green will move back to wide receiver.

Tampa Catholic quarterback Christian Green, arguably one of the state's top juniors, has received scholarship offers from Florida State and Michigan, TC coach Bob Henriquez told the Times today.

"Everyone around here knew his capabilities," Henriquez said. "The good part of it is, his attitude was, 'Now, I've got to work.' If anything, I think this will motivate him a little more. He's such a humble kid."

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Green helped lead TC to the 2007 Class 2A state final, where the Crusaders lost to Madison County 28-7 in Orlando. Green, who passed for more than 1,500 yards as a sophomore, could play a variety of positions in college, but most project him as either a quarterback or wide receiver.

"Within the Michigan offense, he could be a quarterback," Henriquez said. "And frankly, FSU is going more and more to the athletic quarterback."

yeah i really like this kids ability to throw on the run, hes always looking down field wheather rolling to his right or left, you dont see that in alot of dual threat qb's esp the ones with 4.4 speed. id love to see this kid in orange and white, i think i have him above heaps, bell or anyone else right now.

I like the kid but I don't think I would go that far. I agree with what was said above about him being a good QB in the right system but I think he would be an even better WR at the next level.

I would guess we're recruiting him as an athlete, but he looks good enough to play QB in the right system.

Kid seems to be looking to pass even when he's on the move. Pretty quick release to. Keep in mind he's a sophmore... Two more years of work and growing, he's going to be scary no matter what position he settles at.

Wait.. sophmore highlights but a junior (will be a senior)... correct?

Thanks, I must have a buzz or something. I saw 'sophmore' hi-lights and ran with it. He's the kind of athelete we need though. He makes things happen...

wow... well if you ever wondered why you aren't a college football coach; that answers it for you!

i said i have him above them, some of his mechanics need some improvement, but i like his ability to throw on the run, and like was said before hes not looking to run soon as he breaks the pocket, hes looking down field for a reciever, thats kinda hard to teach. if he had heaps mechanics, he would be at the top of everyones list.

He isn't even being offered as a QB...he is being offered by most schools as an athlete.

"Certain schools are recruiting me as a wide receiver, certain schools are recruiting me as an athlete and other schools are recruiting me as a quarterback," said Green before breaking it down further. "Florida, Florida State are recruiting me as a wide receiver. Michigan, Tennessee, Kansas and West Virginia are recruiting me as a quarterback."

"I would like to play receiver. I played it my freshman year in high school and really enjoyed it. I made the transition to quarterback my sophomore year. I just want to go out there and work hard and be the best player I can be whatever position they have me at."

"I probably have about five schools that are high on my list," said Green while making sure to emphasize the fact that the list isn't meant to be a leader-board. "It's just five schools that are high on my list because I want to see them. It's Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Ohio State and Tennessee."

"I plan on going to Georgia, Ohio State, Tennessee and some other schools to get a good feel for them and maybe some other schools that are recruiting me."

Florida: "So far I've been there three or four times. This last time was great. To see the defending national champions go at it (during practice). For me especially, I was impressed with the way they competed and I feel like Florida is definitely one of the top programs in the country."

Florida State: "It was good. They have a good up-and-coming program up there and I was impressed with the young players, the talent they have coming back and the coaches they have up there. It (the visit) was helpful for me with Florida State."

A bit of an update here

Rivals said:
The recruitment of quarterbacks has been a hot topic for Ohio State's 2010 recruiting class and the Buckeyes have shown interest in other quarterbacks not named Nick Montana. Ohio State has shown a vast interest in four-star, dual-threat quarterback Christian Green as well.

That's all I can get in the free preview, but it seems that he really enjoyed his visit to Ohio State.

Also seems to really like Florida State as well.

Exceptional athlete, but no NFL arm. His only ticket to the NFL is via WR unless the wildcat takes off.

Best chance to get him is to sell him a WR spot.

This guy is a 6 inch taller version of Nu'keese.

Very few schools are telling Green he can play QB. And I don't think any major school is. I think he realizes his future is at another position.
