'10 FL WR De’Joshua Johnson

You ask an excellent question.

But FSU has a great tradition of producing skill players and defensive players that succeed in the NFL. Anquan Boldin went to the same high school as Johnson....so he's a bit of an idol for boys growing up near Pahokee.

Also, FSU has a reputation of being a little less demanding regarding academic standards and extracurricular shenanigans. That scenario is appealing for quite a few recruits.

Plus, there is still some halo left from the '90's when FSU was a quasi-dynasty.
I seriously doubt that plays any part whatsoever in a recruits decision to play at FSU. You'd like to think it does, I'm sure, but that's just not the case.

I think it may be a little bit more subtle, but still true.

When I was a teenager, I hung out with a crowd that got into a bit of trouble. There was another set of kids who were getting A's and participating in generally constructive activities. Except for school and the occasional athletic endeavor, our groups rarely crossed pathes.

We weren't invited to their parties and they weren't invited to ours. It's simply a matter of which social circle you hung out in.

The social and academic environment around FSU's football program is clearly (to me) one of the more lenient in major college football. The kids who wind up deciding to go there generally know some of the players before they get there and have a chance to become familiar with the culture before they make a decision to attend.

I think there is no doubt that people gravitate toward other people that they have more in common with. What can be debated is the social and academic culture at FSU relative to other schools. For me, it seems pretty clear that they are not as rigorous as most schools in keeping a tight reign over recruitment and oversight of student athletes.

He talks about being blessed by getting to play with Nuke in HS, just think of what a blessing it would be in Knoxville young man! I love the fact that Kiff is back in Pahokie (sp) and the players seem receptive even if the Coach isn't. Urban Cryer will probably pull his suite access if they lose another one to young Kiffin. Man I'm gald I didn't have to play against that team (9-10) division 1 prospects a year, a freaking factory! Come to Knoxville young man!

time to sic the Hostesses on him!!!!:run:

Just looked at this guy's film again. I think with added weight he'll be like Ronald Johnson. He is a smooth, fast, fluid playmaker.

when was the last time FSU had a receiver anybody ever heard of or a qb that could get them the ball?

Will have an article up on him tonight or tomorrow morning.
