'10 GA ATH Blake Sims

I ain't hammerin you bro.

Just saying my peace. I could be wrong.

I know, I'm just saying.... LV's opinion and this guy's opinion are different. I don't have an opinion on Dixon. I can't really read him that well for some reason.

Bama already has two big time safety's committed.

At camp this summer it was determined he would play WR or DB, not QB. But he has an issue with our depth and that is why UGA came into the picture big time back in Dec. We actually heard a month ago he was decommiting, but again he was one of those players after the rumors started that when interviewed like his father we are going no where but UA and our word is solid, but most knew he would not stay the course.

Both positions are ones we are really loading up at right now and I can see the concern for him. As I stated several days ago it will not hurt our class, and with the win last night might help us. I think we might get a few more surprises now that we won and with him gone we have only 21 right now signing, because as mentioned before that one will definitely get grayshirted because of an injury.

Remember also there are some major concerns with this kids grades. He might be a sign and place, which I also mentioned earlier in the week.

"It wasn't anything personal against Alabama and Coach Saban. Blake loves Coach Saban. He will always love Alabama no matter what," said Sims's father, Sonny Sims. "It was just more of a matter of where he fits in and the offense Alabama plays. We really don't know where he would fit in with Alabama.
"There are some other schools that may make more sense to Blake right now. Alabama is still in it. They are a possibility. We just want to make sure it is the right fit."
Rivals.. ^^

Apparantly he does not want to play defense, but WR and be used in the wildcat. It would be a good fit for him, but it appears the familiy and him think he will end up on defense at UA, and what is being sold to him by other schools.

I wish him luck wherever he goes, but I doubt it will be at UA.

I really don't see him coming in as a WR here with the class we've got. If he doesn't want to play defense he probably shouldn't come to UT either.

Per Scout:

Sims did not really know where he would play in Tuscaloosa and just how he would fit in there under Saban. He didn’t know if he would play offense or defense and he favors one side of the ball a lot more than the other.

“Alabama is a defensive-minded team and I want to be a part of an offense somewhere,” he said. “I just want to get the ball and have a chance to make plays.”

As a senior, he threw for 2,288 yards and 28 touchdowns and rushed for 863 yards and 13 more touchdowns.

He wants to play offense, and wherever he ends up he will be because that is what they tell him he will play.

Can't see where this kid would be able to compete at UT on the offensive side of the ball. I'm with the above poster...he probably shouldn't come here unless (God forbid) one of our highly touted WRs decommit between now and NSD. I say his best fit has got to be UGA at this point.

rb on vb is saying that he is hearing we will get simms, willis, dixon, and wright tomorrow. ofc that is just rumours he is hearing.

can't remember where else I heard this but someone was saying look for a surprise commit from each side of the ball. outside of simms I can't think of any other offensive prospect (although I haven't looked over the rosters recently). I don't think willis would be a surprise, so that may refer to wright or dixon.

tfwiw, just what i am hearing on the internets.

I mean we have Ambles. Meline is destined for defense (M. Dixon might be too) and Milton and Thompkins are already enrolled, but is there a scenario where if we could flip Rogers, we'd take Rogers and Sims too?

Simms dad has left alot of wiggle room on this de-commit. After reading story on TOS he sounds like Bama is still his leader...

Who would you see him replacing at WR out of our '10 recruits? Or would we seriously be considering taking this many WR in this class???

I don't think the staff cares what position he plays right now. They just know he is a player. We are just stocking up on athletes and speed, and letting the pieces fall where they may. It's exactly what Orgeron did at Ole Miss in Meat Market...

But according to the Scout interview offense is what he wants. Do you think this is the kind of staff that tells a player what he wants to hear and then flips it on him when they get his signature? If so, things could get mighty rocky on Rocky Top. Hard to get 110% out of a player that feels like he's been played.

You don't decommit if the school you are committed to is your leader. Could be Simms doesn't fear competition at WR and we promised him at least to get a chance there instead of hard selling him on the defensive side of the ball. We have a great class coming in but no one is particularly entrenched at the position, so that could be a selling point.

Agreed.

Reel them first, worry about where to plug them in later.

I would love to land Sims and get over on Saban.

seriously, I do not understand where half of Volnation got this elitist attitude of "where would we even play him, he doesnt fit"

The Kid is fast as hell and is an incredible athlete. thats why we have coaches, take kids like this and teach them somethin ...

geeez was it not noticeable that we had absolutely no speed on this roster, anywhere at any position...

Im thru with my rant

I am very interested in how it all plays out.

We are in the running for so many players. How in the world will we squeeze them all in.

Can someone tell me how this works? I know we have more offers out than we have available spots. If we end up with more commits than expected, how is this handled. Do we take away offers?
Hope this makes sense.
