'10 GA ATH Da'Rick Rogers

Ha, listen to this from dawgs.com:

"Gentleman, Nash Nance decommitted from Vandy and has committed to TN. Rogers said he will wait till next Wednseday to decide between UGA and TN. With Nash going to UT I would not be surprised if Rogers follows. They played at Calhoun together and basically were the O. TN has no receivers and UGA is loaded. This will be AJ's last year wearing red so he would be an imapact possibly next year. I'm not worried about losing the kid but he is a beast that would be fun to watch if he stays committed."

Seriously? Are you kidding me? Tennessee had the number #46 passing offense this year with "no receivers" and their "loaded receiving corp" was the #80 in the nation. Not to mention we have Justin Hunter (#8 in the country), Ted Meline, Matt Milton, and we COULD very well land Markeith Ambles. And we have no receivers?!

"This is NOT good.....BUT.....Buc is correct in that Rogers had better think about the fact that UT has NOBODY to throw the ball to him and the Dawgs offense is going to be pretty darn good."

If nothing else, he's got Nash Nance!

BTW, UGA fans get way more off topic then we do!

There has to be something in the water down there, these guys are  BIG TIME.

If we close like that no doubt can still be had about CDD's recruiting prowess IMO.
Ahh, my friend, you underestimate the chicken littles and negative nancies of Vol Nation! From everything hatvol has said about CDD to this point, i doubt if winning a NC would bring him around!

with the talent at receiver could we see more 4 and 5 wide sets?

I would think so(especially if we get Rogers and Ambles). You add them with our already stacked reciever class, plus Gerald Jones and Denarius Moore...that's just to much fire power to be left on the sideline if you ask me.

And if we suffer losing seasons the next 2 years, where will the Legion of Low Expectations stand?

All the recruits that placed a high emphasis on coaches, in their decision, are gone...those that have remained chose the University....not some mystical recruiting prowess of Dooley's. That's just wishful thinking. The guys he's gotten onboard thus far are guy to which UT was viewed as an upgrade to their current options. Hunter said location was the primary reason he de-committed from LSU...not because he was blown away by the all-star staff...which includes two former La. Tech coaches and one who comes from MTSU and Memphis (was let go with the rest of the staff for an embarrassing season last year).

Don't misunderstand me, I have high expectations for this staff and the program as a whole. However, I like to think that my expectations are tempered by a healthy dose of realism. Dooley seems to be doing a great job recruiting, but it's going to be a while before we really see if he knows what he is doing.

Many teams don't even have a 6'6" Milton or a Rodgers...we haven't. It's going to be mighty difficult for teams to have to choose how to defend 2-3 No.1 WR's.

We were able to double team AJ Green and keep him out of the picture last year. Can't do that when you have 2-3 AJ Green's to defend. That is going to create some terrible problems for defenses. Peyton Manning showed last week how to exploit mismatches, when the starting CB for the Jets, opposite of Revis, got injured...and his backup came in.

The Patriots exploited the weaknesses in the Titan's secondary (which was riddled with injuries)...to the tune of 59-0. So, with that much talent at the WR position, there will be some significant mismatches to exploit. One of the WR's will have a field day, on any given Saturday.
What's more, is that the most explosive teams in the league seem to have a 2-3 headed monster at the WR position. This is why the Titans have been unable to achieve elite status in the league...they have failed to draft WR's high and have tried to settled on budget rental WR's. Then you look at the Cardinals, Saints, and Vikings...they have more than one elite WR on the field. This is precisely why I think the Titans need to draft Dez Bryant in the 1st Rd (I think he's the next Andre Johnson at WR), if they have any real Superbowl aspirations.

My friend, this is a genius post. That is why the position of WR is not one of competition. Normally, elite wideouts tend to flock together. Why? Because the prospect of having two good ones eliminates double coverage. So let me ask anyone on this board: IF you were a Defensive Coordinator playing the Vols, who would you double team: 6'6'' Milton? All-American Markeith Ambles? #2 Receiver in the Nation Da'Rick Rogers? The extremely fast Ted Meline? The experienced playmaker Gerald Jones? What about the occasional gamebreaker Denarious Moore? Or what about the underrated Marsalis Teague?

Do you now understand why having one good wideout doesn't scare away another?

This scenario makes me drool. Thanks for all this TENNacious.

OH, and of course, don't forget about the #8 Receiver in the nation, Justin Hunter as well. And our tight ends, Stocker and Rivera.

+1. He just needs to realize that "a while" means no more than 2 years.

That's a big WR...
You know...I'm just waiting for some coach to shock everyone and put a big 6'8" OL out on the wing in the redzone (one who is especially athletic and agile for his size), and just throw the ball to him just like a point guard throws the ball down low to a big 7ft + Center.

I mean imagine someone the size of Allen Iverson trying to defend a pass into the endzone against Shaq? :)

The Titans' problem has absolutely nothing to do with WRs, and the Colts (the best team in the NFL) only have one elite guy...
