I want Rogers so bad. Hunter is going to help a ton, but we need to either A) Keep Markeith or B) Get Da'Rick. C) Get both would be great too. I'd love that. We just don't have that #1 receiver yet in my eyes.
You're right...I was hoping Gerald Jones, when he first committed, was going to end up being something special, but not quite. Some of that may have to do with so many different offenses they've had to learn...hard to master if you're changing it up every year. It has killed a lot of these kids draft stock.
Nevertheless...it would be sweet to not only have that true No. 1...but 3 of them in one class!
I seriously wonder what Ambles problem is...after so long being solid. He has the same OC he'd play for and a big time upgrade at WR...personally...I think he may be pissed about the way Hamilton did Kippy Brown. Problem is, Hamilton made a mistake by ever telling Kippy he was going to be interviewed for the job. Kippy got his hopes up...and unreasonably so, imho. I was a Kippy Brown fan...but it is a massive leap from a career position coach to the Head guy at a program of this size and position in the toughest conference in the country.
Hamilton should've sit down first...right off the bat, met with Kippy and let him know that of the prospects on his list, that he very candidly considered Kippy the least qualified, and let Kippy make his case as to why he feels that is not the case and what his program and staff would look like. Kippy knows better than to get his hopes up in all of that..he just got hired as the WR coach after being unemployed for a year. Hamilton should've also made it clear that Kippy was name interim HC, because he didn't know if the other coaches were about to bail.
I just think Ambles needs to understand how awkward and chaotic the situation was. Did Hamilton bungle the situation?...yes. Did he do it based on race? Hell no. We all wanted Lovie Smith here in the worst way...but we can't make him come if he doesn't want to. Coach sumlin at Houston was someone we looked at as well. We don't know where negotiations broke down, and who turned who down...but from all I heard, the job was flat out Lovie Smith's job if he wanted it.
