'10 GA ATH Da'Rick Rogers

Hypothetically lets say we get Rogers and move Meline to defense. What's the prevailing opinion: Do we play the young guys a lot(Rogers, Milton, Bray, Teague etc) or do we trot Nick Stephens out there and stick with the two vets out wide with Teague in the slot and whichever of the freshmen establishes himself backing up the outside.

I'm certainly drawn to the allure of playing the kids early, but there's something to be said for giving them a redshirt year and Stephens and the vets probably give us a better chance to be competitive. Rogers being the early entry possibility that he is wouldn't redshirt, but it might help Milton and Bray.

Thoughts?

Rogers will start from day 1 if we get him with Jones or Moore in the slot and Milton on the other side imo

plus wr is position where 8 or so guys could rotate in and out throughout the corse of a game. imo jones, moore, and rogers would get most of the playing time.

Bray is most likely going to redshirt. Stephens will start the opener and it will obviously depend on how he plays as to whether they give Sims a shot or put Bray in at some point and waste a much needed redshirt year.

Milton will play... being an EE has big advantages. He's already big enough to play and at this time it's all about knowing his playbook and the dreaded "blocking" at WR.

Hunter could use a redshirt year if our depth holds and we don't have many injuries at WR. Same goes for Meline... I think he stays on offense.

Rogers would almost surely play right from the start. He would find a way into the WR rotation somehow. I think he's a high-impact player... but ATM he's committed to UGA so we'll have to see.

I just don't think we'll see quite as many freshmen on the field as we did last year, especially early in the year.

I think it was discussed a few pages back, but any chance this kid plays defense with the WR we have now? He would be a hellified safety.

imo he would be the last guy we would move to defense. his ball skills give him the ability to be a big time impact wr.

I think getting to go to a big time SEC school and play together has both of these guys really excited. IMO I think Nance may be even more excited than Rogers, but they both would love it. I think someone said it earlier, but I believe they really wanted to commit this weekend, but Nance's pops put the breaks on to make sure its what they both want.

Color me optimistic, but I see this working out for all parties and Dooley pulling his first 5 star of his long UT head coaching career. There is too much smoke for there not to be a fire here.

Id even look for an announcement this week, because both Nance and Rogers will want to be respectful and let the other schools know they wont be going there.

I'm hopeful, but I think some of you guys are setting yourself up for a let down. I live by the motto that it's never as good as you hope, but it's never as bad as you fear. I hope we sing these kids, but the truth is that until something official comes out we're on the outside looking in.

If CDD is able to pull this one off and not completely miss on everyone else on NSD, I think the critics should be forced to take a hike until the regular season.

Umm Doesn't Demarco Cobbs run a 4.75?

haha, No... 40 times are all blown out of proportion. Tyler Bray doesn't run a 5.4 and Glen Stanley doesn't run a 4.4...

I've also seen Markeith Ambles listed at a 4.7...

Cobbs probably runs somewhere around 4.6 which isn't exactly a burner but still pretty solid speed.

Yeah that was me. I found that from a reliable poster on the ESPN Vol board. He's usually spot on, that's why I posted it here. Having said that, IMO it's 50/50 whether we get Nance and Rogers or not. Time will tell. I hope that poster is right

Lol... just saying I've played with or against a lot of really good athletes so I've gotten pretty decent at approximating times. But, you're right. It's difficult to judge accurately just from watching film b/c you rarely get to see the film n 'real time'.
