'10 GA RB Mack Brown

According to coach Jarvis, Brown has three official visits scheduled. UF this weekend, FSU on 1/22 and Tennessee on 1/29. Last week he met with Drayton and said he was still firm to UF but on Monday his HSC set up the other visits. Hearing Meyer will ask him to cancel visits or UF will bring in offer other rbs including Dillion Baxter since Meyer agreed with Brown Sr about not taking another running back in this class also if he takes visit then UF wants to be final OV, staff doesn't want UT to have last visit.

Urban Meyer is a real-deal low life. He doesn't even give a damn enough about the kids to let them make sure they're making the right choice.

Too bad the NFL draft is well after NSD.

Hardesty went from not on anyones list for the draft to a top 10 RB and could sneak into the first round this year.

LOL @ not wanting to recruit other prospects because of one being committed. That will turn into Meyer's undoing. These are 17 year old kids and change their minds a whole lot, you better have other options or they might leave you at the altar.

What Meyer says and what he does...well we can determine the answer. I am sure Meyer has a backup plan.

Coaches do this all the time(slow playing)....you give offers to recruits but wait until you miss on higher prospects to commit or go elsewhere then you take who's next on the list. Funny thing is wasn't UT slinging the mud this time, its Gran telling his family that he will be at least number two on the depth chart and we are after Baxter and Riley at Rb.

I baffles me the way some of these coaches convince kids or threaten them into not taking other visits. I know Kiffin's staff always allows and in some cases encourages committed recruits to check out other schools. If I was a parent of one these highly touted recruits and a coach like CUM or any other HC told my boy that he couldn't take visits or they pull his scholly, I would immediately say peace and good luck to you because we are going somewhere else!

I agree with this statement.

If I were a recruit and just had my position coach changed and the head coach has health concerns and they told me I couldn't look around or they would bring in other backs and offer...

I would tell them to go for it because you just lost out on me...

How arrogant can you be Meyer. Dang.

UF would be getting an upgrade with Baxter in my opinion.

Why not just go after him with Drayton and give it your best shot...

:D

Basically, Meyer made Brown his #1 guy and it works if the kid is sold on UF, which he is not, then UF will continue to recruit other RB's. Meyer wouldn't pull the kid's scholly based upon visits. I mean, it is highly encouraged not to take visits, but UF needs to have a contingency plan if he pulls the string somewhere else.

You must have completely missed the part about Meyer promising Brown's father that they wouldn't actively recruit another RB as long as Mack was committed to UF. No one is slinging mud here, just pointing out the obvious that Meyer is going to be proven a hypocrite if he brings in other prospects to be recruited at RB. Our staff encourages visits, that's a big difference in the confidence our staff has versus what Meyer may show. Meyer created this vortex of uncertainty himself, not Kiffin or any other coach. If Mack leaves, which I doubt he does, Meyer will obviously have to go somewhere else. It will show, however, that Meyer doesn't need to make promises he doesn't intend to somewhat keep in regards to recruiting other players.

Considering the coaching shuffle Meyer should expect this and allow for kids to make sure of their decision.

I get what you are saying, but this should be about the best opportunity for the student-athlete... not Meyer.

Because we made Brown our #1 guy and Meyer told him we would not recruit another RB as long as Brown is commited to play for UF. If Brown was committed and UF still pursued Baxter, I'd say we would wind up with neither player. With Brown taking visits, Meyer can feel ok with recruiting other kids for his position until he is 100% committed. "He shops, we shop" kinda deal.

Yeah like Meyer wasn't going to recruit another QB(Tebow) after Snead committed. :glare:

Saban, Brown and Stoops have done the samething over the years with recruits regaurding visits after they commit.

CLK has made it obvious that taking a RB in this class is less than a priority. If we get Brown or another RB great, but I think he is more concerned with Cullen,Green, Arie, Jones and others that will help on th Line of Scrimmage.

Just believe that we may not have room for a RB if we get Robey and the players just mentioned. This class is getting really tight and spots will be left on signing day. I'm not sure one of them will be for a RB....IMO

Hell, I don't even want another RB this class. Especially if we have to sacrifice an OL or LB to get one.

Meyer hasn't recruited another running back.....Baxter called UF and Riley is being recruited as a S/Ath, he would never play rb in Urban's spread. If he needed to decommit bc of Meyer's issues or Carter then he has that right but Meyer has held his end of this agreement by not taking any other rbs. It's a 4 day dead periods so this will have to wait until his visit this weekend.

Ok, you have completely missed my point, but it's cool. Meyer brought this on himself, then wants to renig on a promise that he made to a parent. It's all good.

I get your point but if he wants to take visits then meyer should take a look at other backs. He won't decommit because he knows that UF only has a few spots left and they would take another back ASAP so he could be on the outside looking in because of it.

Taking visits, doesn't equal a decommitment. All I am saying is, don't promise things you don't intend on staying true to.
