Oh, how things change in just 2 days...

"He's going to a combine on the west coast the first week in June and then to the California camp the next day," said Mr. Ambles. "I don't know if he's going to the USC Rising Stars camp because money's kind of scarce."

This was a quote from Ambles' dad in today's Rivals article on Markeith...

I think this is legitimate proof that USC has in fact pulled Ambles scholarship...

Nobody is going to chose a "combine on the west coast" and the Cal camp over the USC Rising Stars Camp. If money was really the issue, they would go to the USC camp and say to hell with the other 2...

If USC is dropping Under Armour All-American WR Markeith Ambles (McDonough, Ga./Henry County), as its been rumored, then it's news to his high school coach.

Henry County coach Mike Rozier said that Trojans assistant Todd McNair was in his school for two hours last Friday checking up on Ambles.

"(McNair) was here, he had lunch and we had a nice visit," Rozier said. "He seemed like he wanted him. They can only come twice and they've been here twice so far. I don't know where these rumors are coming from."

Rozier added that Southern California head coach Pete Carroll had made his one allotted phone call to Ambles.

The talented receiver also confirmed his unofficial visit to USC in early June (a trip that also is supposed to include stops at UCLA and Cal) and a return trip to the Trojans' Rising Stars Camp on June 24-25 are still on.

"He's still going to the camp and I am supposed to go out there and work the camp," Rozier said.

There were also rumors about Georgia pulling off of Ambles. The Bulldogs have never officially offered him, according to Rozier. Ambles has stated multiple times that he is likely heading out of state.

This is how things generally work around here... if an article is a week old someone has already posted it. In this case it's on the previous page.

Florida leads but UT is not far behind. Maybe if Scroggins says he is a vol, that will attract Ambles to the ORANGE.

"One school did drop my offer," said Markeith Ambles. "That school was USC. It was something beyond my control. There was nothing I could do about it. I am fine with it, and I am moving forward."

"I know there has been some rumors about other schools dropping my offers, but that is not true. USC is the only school I do not have an offer from anymore."

Per Scout...

I don't have much insight on Ambles, but I'm going to lean with UT on this one with Bama on your heels. I think FSU will start picking up on him as well. I don't believe he will ever get an offer from either of the instate schools and if he did at this point, I doubt it would make a difference.

That's my take as well, I haven't seen anything to indicate we lead.

I don't know why we wouldn't. This kid wants immediate PT. We have that.

Wants to go pro. We have the system for that.

He wants to be the No.1 guy at receiver. He will be here.

We get a QB recruit this guy will be a Vol.

We offered these same things to Marlon Brown.

Kramer's buddy?

Bobby S. is a longtime dual subscriber of the UT & UGA Rivals boards. He brings some good info to the Vols board, but he also brings unsubstantiated rumors on guys Georgia has chosen to pass on---Moody, Ambles and others.

Bob's ok in my book, but I don't consider him the de facto spokesperson for all things Georgia football-related like some people have made him out to be.

Not quite...we couldn't offer a QB. Marlon would have had to play with Crompton this year with last year's reputation and then possibly a true Freshman his Soph year. I would have loved to see him at TN, but don't blame him if he didn't grow up a TN fan and did not want to take a chance on a rebuilding program. With a year behind this staff and a few camps and Jr. days, this won't be an issue for the future 'Marlons'.

"Today was about getting to know the coaches better," Ambles said. "They have a good staff and they are going to get Tennessee back on the map. I think they are a program that's going to be fighting for a National Championship soon.

Cox emerged as the starter for UGA, right? I'm not sure that's an advantage over Crompton/Stephens. Next year UGA will either start a green second year guy or a freshman as well.

I tend to think Marlon's main draw was his connection with Richt on religion. If not for that, I think he would have been at UT.
