One of the more promising northern California defensive players this year is likely to be Chabot DT Patrick Harris (6-5, 295). JCFootball.com caught up with the big, physical lineman and he updated us on things including which schools have showed the most interest to date...

Ed Orgeron noted as one of the best defensive line coaches in the country picked up another defensive lineman commitment when Patrick Harris of Chabot Junior College made his decision.

“Yes I made a verbal pledge to Tennessee,” Harris told InsideTennessee.com recently. “I’m very excited about playing for the Volunteers. They have assembled a great coaching staff and they have the program headed in the right direction.”

Harris, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound defensive tackle, is expected to contribute early for the Vols.

Patrick Harris is a defensive tackle from Chabot Junior College. He is a 6-foot-5, 300-pound defensive tackle. Ed Orgeron and Frank Wilson have great connections with the Mississippi Junior College coaches.

Wasn't the Scout guy telling us to watch this kid earlier today? We may have to start paying attention to this new guy. He's good.

Did he play high school ball in Cali or is that just a mistake from the original writer?

That's great news!!! I think our defense will be fine and because of Monte and the rest of the defensive coaches it is easy to sell defensive players to play for UT. Now we just need to get some OL commits and work on our offense.

This is a huge help for our D-line next year. O knows how to evaluate these big ugly DT's. Now if we could get some help on the O-line and a QB or two, or three...

That's a nice surprise! It just goes to show that we really have no idea what these coaches are doing or who they are going after.

Man this guy is 6'5 300lbs and runs a 4.9 forty? Thats ridiculous measurables for a DT if true.

I like it that the staff is pulling in players at positions of need, not a lot of guys that are 5'9" 170
