You mean to tell me that you actually believe these young men ALWAYS make their commitment to the institution, not to the coaches that recruit them for 2-3 years? I think that is putting your head in the sand, IMO. 99% of the time, the out of state kids come to UT because of the COACHES. Think of how you would feel.....you spend 2 years getting to know these coaches, they fill you full of all the success you are going to have under them and all they are going to teach you. You enroll early to get started on your college career......then 2 weeks later the entire staff is gone, replaced by complete strangers that you are just supposed to automatically trust with your athletic and academic future. If I am in that situation, I would want and think I deserve the opportunity to look around and possibly go play for coaches at another school that I have an actual relationship with. I am pretty much playing devils advocate here.....I didnt want all our early commits jumping ship either, but I do see their side of things.

I agree but at some point the coaching staff and AD have to draw the line. Once the LOI is signed it is over with barring a family emergency or something to that effect. If we're going to hold one EE to their LOI, you've got to hold all of them to it. How bout the ones who like Bryce who committed to Kiffin a year ago? Release them also? What about the kids who committed to Fulmer? I feel bad for these kids being placed in this situation though.

IDK about that. The kid pissed me off by how he handled leaving but we have to remember he is still a teenage kid. It's hard to be pissed at an immature and naive kid who was screwed by our former coaching staff.

this guys situation baffles me. all the others i can understand. but he coulda been in the draft next spring after a year as feature wr in the SEC from what i saw of him. he has nothing to gain by sitting out and everything to lose, all the other guys that left could afford to burn a year. kinda. but this makes no sense. this guy is the single most "fishy" thing from the whole previous coach disaster. put it this way - id pay good money to know the whole story on thompkins.
