'10 LA QB Benton "Munchie" Legaux

I doesn't matter what we think about prospects. It's what the coaches think about them that matters.

exactly, and its kinda stupid for someone else to speculate saying this kid isnt, or this kid is that, or this kid is at the top of the coaches list, like they know for a fact LOL. they are just drinking a differnt flavor of kool aid

Three schools are recruiting the four-star prospect hardest at the moment.

"I would say Michigan, West Virginia and Oregon," said Legaux. "Probably just those three."

He doesn't have any one top school at this point, but there are a few near the top.

"Not really, not right about now. My tops are West Virginia, Oregon, Baylor, Ole Miss and Tennessee," he said. "Those are the top right now."

the kid can play i dont care what any of theese guys "in the know" think about it, and their is no way this kid is gona come here to play WR when he can go to a big time school and be an outstanding QB, if he wasent wanted to play qb here i dont think he would have an offer on the table from us.

I can promise you, I'm not speaking for me in making this statement. I'm saying what I think chances are this staff brings him in as a QB... about zero. IMO

This guy looks like a single hit would snap him in two. He's little. I do not see him as the QB for The University of Tennessee. I think he could make a good WR, but not a QB. I just don't see it.

I've been telling people that for weeks. Not what I personally think of him as a prospect, but what I think the coaches think of his chances to be successful in this system. I'm sure you have confirmation of that at this point. Been catching all kinds of flack for stating it, but it's the bottom line. Kid just doesn't fit what CLK wants to do.

Kid isn't even a QB in my opinion...Even if he goes to Oregon..I bet he ends up at WR.

I don't necessarily disagree with that, but wherever he goes it will be with the understanding that he will be given a long look at QB first. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he doesn't ever make it as a D1 QB though.

:shakehead: Too many things point to him being a solid QB at the next level. Maybe not in UT's system, but somewhere else without a doubt...

He will have his chance. But I disagree that everything points to it. He is awfully inconsistent, has questionable accuracy, and hasn't performed well at all under pressure. His upside is big in a spread offense, so he will get offers to those schools, but nothing is guaranteed with a prospect like him. I think he's a great WR prospect, but obviously Munchie wants to play QB.

Too slow for a WR and not physical enough to be a WR at his size. The CB's would just jam him on the line, and without the quickness and speed, he would be finished...
He did well at the UGA camp, dominated the New Orleans camp, but didn't do well here (even though he was not terrible). I think he could excel at Oregon or Ole Miss, but I can't see him running a true spread at Michigan or WVU.

I agree with that, though slower WRs have had success. His lack of experience there hurts those prospects, but you know schools are thinking if he doesn't work out at QB they could try him at a different position regardless of what they tell him. He's too good of an athlete to not play somewhere on the field.

everyone is certinaly welcome to they're opinnions, or i dont guess this place would be here. we will see what happens.

Any new news on this guy ? From the videos I saw of him at camp, he look's really skinny. If he could put on a few pounds of muscle, he could be a great QB.

Like what? The only places I see him at QB would be in offenses like WVU or MSU. The big time pro-style BCS schools will want to move him to WR or Safety, IMO.

I didn't say pro-style. I think he will be a solid QB at somewhere like Oregon or Ole Miss. I don't think he is really a running QB like they need at WVU, and he can pass well enough to not have to play in a full spread. He had a bad showing at UT, but outside of that his stock as a passer has greatly improved this spring. He has a very strong arm and works well out of the shotgun. He can't run a full pro-style offense, that much is true...

see thats the thing with munchie, hes a wildcard, he does have a cannon for an arm, and when someone that knows what they are doing works with his mechanics its only going to get stronger.

when coaches are evaluatiing a qb they are also lookiing for alot of the intangable things that go into it. to say he cant do this or that is pretty assinine.
i wasent at the camps so i dont know what went on exactly , ive seen a few short vids, and heard conflicting reports on him and brunetti both.

tharinger...

New Orleans(LA) QB Munchie Legaux has named Oregon as his leader; Baylor and Tennessee are also close to the top. Tennessee also has eyes for two Cali QB's as Jesse Scroggins is visiting and Chase Rettig has UT in the driver's seat.
