'10 OH QB Andrew Hendrix

Any reasoning for this?

He doesn't sound any different than any recruit listening to the pitch and making his way through the recruiting process.

I may be wrong or just see it wrong. I see it has he used us to raise his rankings and status. Ah its probably just me though. I bet if the QB class wasnt so weak this year though he wouldnt have half his offers

Damn. sounds like we put all our eggs in the Scroggins basket. Now he seems pretty high on Florida from what i'v read.

Naw, were the staff messed up was putting so much emphasis on Heaps for so long and not putting effort on any other QBs. When the staff was after Heaps, it was just him, like they didn't want to spook him away with other prospects. That hurt because, 1. we were already playing catch-up in the recruiting game. 2. we sat while all the tp rated QBs committed else where. There is Rettig, who holds no offers. There's Hendrix, who's got ND and OSU on top. The rest aren't up tp snuff as of yet. The staff knows they can't miss on Scroggins. If they do, I don't feel like they can get another QB that recrits will follow here. JMO

You sure about that? Seems like we were one of the first to get in on Hendrix.

We've been on Rettig and Rees before most any other school too. And I think last year was evidence you don't necessarily have to have a top QB to have a great recruiting class.

Yes, we were in on them, but didn''t offer or pursue as we should have. We were one of the first on Rettig and Hendrix. But, if we really went after Hendrix like we did Heaps, he would have pobably committed to UT already. All I'm saying is that we're in dire need of a PROFICIENT QB recruit this class. I'm praying Scroggins commits, but who knows, if Scroggins falls through the cracks on us, bet the house all atention turns to Rettig. Just like the staff went from Heaps to Scroggins.

How do you know how aggressively they pursued Andrew Hendrix, or at what point they stopped recruiting Heaps? I guarantee you they didn't put nearly the effort into recruiting Heaps that you think they did.

I remember they had Reeves out there for like a week or two right after signing day, trying to reel him in. But, on Hendrix, my question is what has soured? Is it the staff backing off, or Hendrix just getting to big time for lil ole UT?

What happened with Hendrix is he got some offers from schools that he likes that are closer to home.

I understand how important it is to land a great QB in this class but if we dont land Scroggins it may be a blessing in disguise. From what I've read the talent in next years QB class is better than this years and we have already missed out on a few other QB's we were atleast interested in. It might be better if Scroggins doesn't come here and we sign someone like Lamaison. This way the chances we definately pick up an elite QB in next years class that would probably be better than Scroggins anyway is very very high. What do you guys think?

There is definitely more talent next year and there are several guys that could make the top 15 overall in the country which no QB has done this year. So the class is deeper and more talented.

We cannot wait to get a QB though. We have to take one this year whether it's Scroggins or a mostly unheralded guy like Rettig. My feeling after his visit is that it's going to be Scroggins which is a perfect fit. He is a pro-stye guy and he will attract other recruits. Exactly what we need as the cornerstone of this class. Getting a big WR that can stretch the field is important too. Milton or Prater would be very nice.

Even if we get Scroggins, I think we need Rettig too. We need more depth at QB. Rettig is very underated considering how he did his sophomore year. He proved he has what it takes, when he was at skills camp. I guarantee you, if Kiffin offered him now he would commit.

I agree but there's still a possibility that a Rettig commit scares Scroggins off, and that would not be good.

If he's the best man for the job, then so be it. What's weird is, there are a lot of people who say that Rettig is going to end up the best QB on the West Coast. I just want to know where this kids offers are if he's so dynamic to all these people I keep reading??

I don't think a Rettig committment would scare him off. He has UT, USC and UF as his leaders. Unless a mystery school appears from no where and intices him away, I believe he signs with us. The depth charts are too deep at USC, even though he's like 20 miles away. At UF he has Brantley to sit behind until his JR year, while getting mop up and spot duty. His best option is here, we know it, and he knows it. He'll go home talk to his coach, and parents, and then commit to UT. JMO

Who says that? I want to read it.

I think Rettig is a solid sleeper, and i don't know why he doesn't have offers, but he's far from the best QB on west coast, I seriously, seriously doubt he will end up being the best on the west coast.
