'10 OK ATH Demarco Cobbs

I said earlier that all the hype about Prater might make him commit early to UT if he really wanted to go there. Like I said if UT adds Prater they might look to fill other positions with non WRs which might hurt Cobbs. Cobbs is good but not a Prater. If Cobbs commits they will still take Prater, but not sure if it was the other way around.

Prater plans to enroll early, he should make his decision after he's done taking his official visits.

Prater will probably make it the beginning of November, becasue if he takes all visits as he said he would that would be in Sep-Oct.

I think we would take both no matter what. I don't think you turn away those type recievers. I honestly think we have a pretty good chance with both. I think the Ill. kids give us some advantage with Prater. I don't know it will be enough to get him in orange or not. But I like our chances. I think if Cobbs makes it Friday I would think we will be in the thick of it with him. I think with losing Green to grades we need four WR in this class. We also need some size there and this class is looking like it will fill both those needs.

why do somany people think he wont be a WR, this kid is a PREMIER athlete, and has soooo much versatility at wideout, apparently the staff is REALLY high on this kid as a WR.
jw y people think he'll go to d or te? and does any one no if he is an early enrollee?

DeMarco Cobbs
Athlete
Tulsa (OK) Tulsa Central

Ht: 6-foot-1 (Event)
Wt: 198 lbs
Forty: 4.76 secs
Bench max: 305 pounds
Squat max: 400 pounds
Vertical: 26 inches
Shuttle: 4.62 secs
Class: 2010 (High School)

If the staff thinks he can play WR I have no doubt that he can, but those are not typical measurables for a WR.

well that forty was most likely hand timed, so u can take .2 of of that and that's a 4.5 which is pretty damn fast, and the same with the shuttle, but yea that vertical isn't very great but we have milton ambles and hopefully prater to be catching jump balls, i see cobbs as a possession receiver, that kind of strength, and athleticism will make him very good in the open field and breaking tackles, but i see what your saying, i just think people overreact WAY to much at the listed 40's

Cobbs 4.76 is electronically time. Look at his profile on Rivals. If there is an "r" next to the time then it is an electronic time.

According to SPARQ you take .24 off a players electronic time to get his hand-held time, which most prospects go by to "claim" their 40 times.

So Cobbs would be a 4.52 handheld guy, just like Ambles would be a 4.41 hand-held guy. Both are plenty fast.

And he did run very well at camp.

ya would not worry about his speed at all. hes stud who has offers from all over and look at the stats he put up. trust me, the dude is quick. and if some schools want to play him at TE he would be the smallest TE since the 1930's. a crazy statement like that would come from a bammer:crazy:

name me the last time you guys saw a 6'2-6'3 205 lb TE that wasn't on the JV team somewhere in high school...this guy is not a TE guys

youre absolutley correct. hes obviously built like a Tackle.

i know he's not a TE and if he were he would have to get bigger but i still think he could cause some problems for Dfences

He's a WR all the way if he plays offense. Safety / OLB if he plays defense.

No chance of him being a TE. The "others are recruiting him as as TE" thing was an attempt to knock the kid by a certain poster who knows he is probably going to end up a Vol by trying to say he isn't fast enough to play WR and too small to be an effective TE. Meaning he now all of a sudden isn't a good prospect.

I think we all agree he is a great prospect and I would love to see him in Orange. We are just wondering what position he will play. If anything it's a compliment that he could possible play all these positions.
