'10 OK ATH Demarco Cobbs

Is he faster than Rivals lists him? It would be strange for him to be this highly sought after and run the 40 slower than I did in college.

Some have said that Cobbs has never been taught how to properly run a 40, and plays much faster than his listed time.

i don't know that there is a "proper" way to run it. i have been shown a bunch of different techniques that i was told were "proper"... either way i doubt it would make a huge difference

Electronic timed 4.76 = 4.52 hand held.

See NFL combine numbers compared to their "high school 40's". You would think the players would get faster but somehow their NFL combine numbers are always slower than their "claimed hand held 40 times" from high school.

Cobbs 4.76 was actually an electronic SPARQ timed 40 according to his profile.

Technique can make a huge difference!! It all depends on how bad his technique is now, but athletic and precise route running is his forte!

You think both Jones and Warren leave early for the NFL????:ermm:
If Jones can get and stay healthy, I think he's gone (a good season would probably make him a 2nd Rd prospect or better, plus having an injury this early will surely weigh heavily in his decision as a similar injury his senior year could damage his draft status)....but Warren, that was my fault for not double-checking. I thought he had only 2 seasons to play.

Who are these people saying he doesn't know the proper technique for running a forty? Cobbs has been running track in oklahoma for years. Anybody who runs the 100m event knows how to run a forty.

lmao.

Running a forty does take technique and what people underestimate is how much your start matters. I dont know if he was starting of blocks.. which helps... or just of the ground and if you dont know how to start properly then your in trouble in can affect your time by .2 of a second or even more. I learned how to start correctly and lowered my time from a 5.0 to a 4.8.

Huh? I like Gerald, and this is not intended to bash him, but what has he ever done that says NFL to you?

I ran 4.8 flat when I got to college. I ran a 4.64 with a small amount of technique coaching. I usually don't post, but you are being so ridiculous I felt compelled.

Agreed, same exact thing happened to me. My sophmore year in high school was my first exposure to a real track caoch. As you said "with a small amount of technique coaching" I dropped from a 4.9 to a 4.7.

DeMarco Cobbs and Central (Tulsa/Okla.) endured a shutout defeat to Booker T. Washington (Tulsa/Okla.) to begin the season. Cobbs, who was playing quarterback, rushed for 47 yards on 12 carries (3.9 average) and completed just one pass attempt, according to the Tulsa World.

Why - pretty sure the team they played it legit. Would have been nice to see him play well - but doesn't mean he's not any good because of a bad outing against a good team.

I was talking to him on the phone a few days ago and he was talking about his visit and he was talking about players he talked to and was blanking on Nu'Keese's name. And he was just like "I forget his name... The little one that switched from florida to tennessee at the last minute.." Thought that was pretty funny.

As I've said before Demarco is a very, very genuinely good kid. Whoever gets him will get a great football player, and also a very good person. Doesn't have a big head, doesn't hang out with the wrong kids, and a very hard worker.
