'10 OK ATH Demarco Cobbs

I ran 4.8 flat when I got to college. I ran a 4.64 with a small amount of technique coaching. I usually don't post, but you are being so ridiculous I felt compelled.

my point i was making was that ive been shown different techniques from different college coaches and from people at combines. i wasn't aware of there being one specific technique that is best?

Why - pretty sure the team they played it legit. Would have been nice to see him play well - but doesn't mean he's not any good because of a bad outing against a good team.

I wasn't saying he wasn't any good. No one likes losing but getting shut out just hurts even more. I know he is an awesome player and I hope here about coming to UT soon.

A tenth of a second might be nice if you are a small WR who needs the speed to get away from an LB or DB because you are easy to tackle. The difference is Cobbs is built like J Jones for us. Who cares if you might be able to get to him, but tackling him doesn't gaurantee you stop him. This kid played RB last year in HS and got most of his 1300+ yards running the ball after the first contact was made with him. So whether he runs a 4.5 or a 4.8 who cares if you can't bring him down.

ahhh, I do not know how they play in Bammer land, but I do beleive that if you "tackle" him, he IS stopped. ( I know what you meant to say, just giving you some grief)

I understand. Maybe I should have said that making contact with him wont bring him down. Alot of WRs in college get taken down with arm tackles and loose hits. This kid will need a proper technique tackle to bring down combined with some strength. He doesn't need to be fast to drag a DB across the goal line.

I wish somebody would teach this kid the proper way to run a 40, so he would clip of a 4.4 or 4.5. And make everyone feel better about it.

The guy can get faster with a S and C program designed for speed and power. Not everyone who runs a sub 4.4 is successful in the NFL and you don't have to have that speed to get there. Jerry Rice...slow as all get out in comparison to a lot of elite speed guys. The game is much more complicated than a 40 time.

He said he has not received a call from the Tennessee staff today. Said he was surprised they hadn't called him...

its scout.

Scout has improved significantly over the past couple of years. Their evaluations are about as accurate as Rivals now. You can do your own research but I looked at QB's and found that they did a better job of projecting the better ones.

Very surprised we didn't call... could something be going on behind the scenes with Prater? Regardless, I still think we'd go after Cobbs too before closing the class at WR.
