"I do have a lot of interest in them," Owens said of Tennessee. "I have a good relationship with coach (Lance) Thompson. He knows the state of Alabama and has been in the SEC for a while. I have a lot of respect for him. He came by in the spring, which showed me that Tennessee likes me. I like their coaching staff. They are young and energetic, but they have a lot of NFL experience which is nice. I will be back up there for a game to see campus again. I liked the academics up there. There were not a lot of people up there, but it was a pretty good visit. I got to meet some of the players and saw them workout."

This would be a great way for Lance Thompson to prove his worth.

Gran and O have lived up to the hype, its LTs turn.

I dont have a subscription anymore but two other interviews this weekend with Owens said that it is now between AU and UA, which is surprising because we thought he was getting ready to commit to the Barn. He said he has delayed his decision until after the season because he wants to see how the programs turn out. If that is the case we might get lucky. He also said in both interviews that he was taking other visits just to see how programs looked but it would come down to AU or UA. I don't put much faith into Rivals because they can spin a quote to the next coming of whoever to sell subscriptions.

With all that being said he will be at the Barn next year.

Who knows a lot could change between now an NSD. I believe a lot of the prospects are taking a wait and see attitude with UT this year to see how the team looks on the field. Next year should be a little better in the recruiting game when the staff has some games under their belts.

New VQ article says he will be in Knoxville again. Great news, he is a beast. I'd love to have him be a Vol, but my only question is how many LBs are we going to take in this class? Most people thought 3 but it looks like we will be taking at least 4. Thoughts?

I think you are right about 4 (including Irvin). With some of the smaller faster LB recruits you never know what will happen with them though. Some end up at safety because they are just done growing at 200lbs. Some end up massive and become a shoe-in on the DL (Walls for example). Still some end up at FB, TE.............. so it never hurts to recruit lots of these athletic LB prospects.

I think we get one more LB in this class. But I think we will be more selective on who it is. I think it will be a big name guy like Luc, Fortt, Owens, Shirley, Christian Jones, Travis Williams, etc...

King was moved from middle to strong side this fall. The Frosh are stepping up and like CLK said the best players will play.

Tennessee will take more than 1 more linebacker in this class if they can get some good ones. They need at least 3 more linebackers in this class. A couple of the freshman are doing okay and will probably be players down the road (King and Askew) but it is still a huge need and priority area for this staff.

We don't need 6 LBs in this class, we got 4 last year. Two are early impact guys, and I think only one will redshirt (Nelson). Irvin will come right in and contribute next year more than likely too.

We have much greater needs on the O and D lines, WR, TE, and QB.
