Urban Meyer

:lolabove:

No, really who the coach will be, not the bag of lies and BS he's feeding them to keep things going for UF...his own AD and administration won't even say he'll be the coach - his AD recently said he had NO time table for Meyer's return, end of summer, during the season, next year, or not at all...his words!! Meyer's "in my gut" & "I feel" are just ways to hedge his bets...then when he has to resign or take a more administrative role he can say, well my gut feeling was wrong as more medical info came to light...or some other mumbo jumbo

I can't believe that anyone with even a modicum of intelligence believes the crap Meyer is shoveling.

i get you don't like the Gators but all this level of certainty about Meyer not returning is the same kind of wishful thinking that perpetuated talk of him bolting to Notre Dame the past three seasons. If Meyer didn't have every intention of returning then Steve Addazzio would not be the interim head coach and they wouldn't keep hiring coaches that have zero connection to anyone on the current staff except for of course Urban Meyer. Instead they'd have a full on search for a replacement head coach but that's not what's happening.

If his intent was to trick recruits to signing with Florida even though he knew he wouldn't be the head coach in the fall then in actuality it would make far better sense to strongly assert that he would be back or at least provide a definite timetable to recruits. Instead though he feels strongly he'll be the head coach his recent health scare has made it clear to him nothing in this life is certain.

He told Mack Brown that he would be back in August.

Newsflash: This is VOLnation. No matter how much water your argument in support of Swervie Urbie holds, you're fighting a losing battle on this board (VOLnation).

IMO, if his family and faith and health were SOOO important to him, he wouldn't have let one practice sway him into coming back...maybe. He told his family of his decision and his daughter said she was glad to have her daddy back. I'm not a parent, so maybe I'm wrong in thinking this, but I would feel like I had just stabbed my own child in the back. I hope he does come back and coach. I want to beat him, but this whole situation says a lot about Meyer's character. He's a doucher, plain and simple.

The AD and president tried their best to get him to take a leave of absence instead of resigning. After Meyer got back on the practice field with his team (i.e. the only really fun part of coaching other than game day) he went back and accepted their offer. it's as simple as that.

it's not surprising you guys have a desire to see the man who's been at the helm of 5 straight victories over Tennessee not return. however, it's not going to affect what transpires and barring a health setback he will return for the upcoming season.

This is what I would be worried about if I was a recruit. He claims to have already had 5 incidents! When and what is one more going to do? Could be at any point of a recruits commitment to UF. Is it worth the risk when there are other competitive programs out there?

No offense here swampy, but I really don't care if Urb comes back or not.I have never doubted Meyer is a good coach, good recruiter, etc. so forth and so on. My problem with him is he is lying/has lied to his family or his recruits. Take your pick. He pretty much made his wife look like an idiot in his 'leave of abscence' presser. My personal opinion is he's a man that's absolutlely full of himself and not trustworthy. The sports world is full of them and Urbie just happens to be one of them. I'm just growing tired of all the sanctimonious BS, it's about my health, my family, my recruits, my friggin dog, whatever.... Florida fans just need to remember these things the next time they feel like bad mouthing our 'big mouth' coach.... and I am in no way saying you have been one of those fans.

if you think Meyer makes any decision without his wife on board you're sadly mistaken. She's the reason he's in Gainesville, not in South Bend.

Sounds like a Gator fan has slithered into our midst. Be gone please. And I hope CUM has a coronary the day after NSD. Vols, Everyone!

Not a very nice thing to say. No matter how much you dislike Urban. We don't need fans like you.

Prime example of a "fan" who doesn't belong in our fanbase.

The one sadly mistaken is you. Meyer hadn't discussed the possibility of coming back with his family before the press conference announcing a LOA.

Thats my problem with Meyer.

If you know you will be the HC in August, make it public. If you don't know, due to your health, don't lead these kids on.

I don't wish anything bad on him, but he opened the door to be called out on this.

So you've brought up the ND job now twice. Nobody here even cares about that, the objection to your claim that he will be back has zero to do with ND and him taking/not taking that job. Nobody denies he's a good/great coach & recruiter. The point that most people here are making is that Urban Meyer is a liar, he's two faced and duplicitous.

THE IMAGE: He places himself on his high perch above everyone else and puts a halo atop his head. Once in a while he condescends to commune with the other mortals not worthy to kiss his feet. See that's the image with which you worshipful jorts in FL portray your leader. He is honest, and trustworthy, and a man of God. - Trust me I live about an hour SW of "the Swamp"...UF & Urbie and Tebow are like a religion around here

THE TRUTH: The truth is far from that image. He has been shown to be a liar. He lied to J. Snead about Tebow and the QB position (before you say we can't prove it - its in a published book! ESPN is not going to let itself be sued for libel or slander - it wasn't sued therefore true), he lied about leaving Utah, lied about why he was hospitalized...need I go on recounting his litany of lies. Since he's been coach he's had over 25 players arrested, most recently C. Dunlap - passed out at the wheel drunk as a skunk, more than any other program in that same stretch. He also said he needed time with his wife and family and to get his health right - then chooses his players over family and health...truly a man of character....i'll stop there, but I have old articles from the gainesville sun if you really need to verify this stuff.

The big point - Now he says he'll be back in August to a recruit or two...to the media its "in my gut I think I'll be back next season"...Foley is totally non-committal to a time table. SO WHICH ONE IS TRUE?? does he have a time table and is lying to the media, OR is there still no time table and he's lying to recruits?? can't both be true - breaks laws of logic....so you being a recruit or their family, how do you not see all this and just say...OK, i'm going to UF and CUM will be there....naive at best.

personally I wish someone would call his sanctimonious ass out on all this crap on national tv and not just here...let the truth be know

Let's see how well you'd handle life in the public eye. Just about every player he's ever had said he was like a father figure. I know he is the coach of your rival, but I don't see why he gets personally attacked so often.

Yeah, cause that never happens to our coach. Come on, seriously? You're obviously a big tim CFB fan or else you wouldn't be here so you should know this is part of the deal. It happens, always has, always will.

They said that about our last coach... guess who the Fulmer Cup was named after that Urban seems to win so often? Most of these kids need discipline, not someone to hold their hand and tell them it will be ok.
