I agree. The more I've researched and thought about it I'd have to say my new 2 are UT and Memphis. Memphis is very possible. He's already committed there once, lives there, this has Porter's name written all over it. However, he's been in contact with us for a while now, his name has been mentioned from legit sources of late, it's still his home state, and depth chart, he could very well play as a freshman. Ole Miss would probably have to be my third b/c of location, but I'm not really even considering them.

Actually safety is the one postion we are hurting at right now and it is believed we will sign atleast 3 true safeties next year. With Robby Green now maybe gone for good we really will be hurting at safety. So if this kid enrolled for the fall he would have a chance to see the field.

Now I have not seen anything on our boards about this, but I do know at one time he was very high on us.

Really, I think it's either UT or Memphis. Bama doesn't have the room according to their people and they are loaded at DB anyways.

Porter is dangerous and he would probably immediately be a starter there.

not to intentionally remind people of how bad our depth is in every position except running back, well maybe rb too... but wouldnt he probably start here on day 1, as did jj?

According to an interview with VQ, his preference in college is DB, and according to him, everyone except LSU is wanting him as a corner.

You're talking about a kid who should still be in HS this time next August. No way he starts here as a freshman.

Not at safety we are not. CB yes but not safety. Just read an article today that UA looks to sign more DBs in 2011 then in 2010.

Also one of our early commits in January just left the team for medical reason and will not return. Which means a spot for the 2010 roster just opened up. Convenient isn't it or just good timing. Maybe he got excited that we could add him now. I know wishful thinking on my part.

they said he stayed an extra year to get more offers. so, technically he should be a part of the 2010 class which would make him a true freshman. And by all accounts I ve heard he is an extreme athlete. one that could play three positions so you have to think the staff would want him on the field early.

You don't just stay another year in HS if you've graduated.

The ONLY reason he stayed in the first place was for offers, and now that he has more offers and can still sign with a team before the April 1st deadline, he is choosing to do that.

The story all along was that he had the minimum requirments met already. The core classes and test scores needed to qualify. Players do not need to graduate to enter school early.

Yes, but he's still supposed to be part of the 2011 class. I don't see anybody that's still supposed to be in HS coming in here and starting. That's my main point.

After reading all the above posts from TOS, I think we have a good shot at this kid come Monday.

I think this is the best case scenario when it comes to Tennessee's chances.

I think it will end up being Tennessee or Memphis.

My "guess" and it is just a guess right now is that he'll pick Memphis.

I think the fact that he is reclassifying is a good thing for Tennessee. It gives them the best chance of landing him IMO. I still think Memphis could be tough to beat though.

I do think had he stayed in the '11 class he and Antonio Richardson had pretty much distanced themselves as the top 2 prospects in the state.

My new #3 prospect in the state is the Gibson kid. I think he's really really good and very underated after seeing some film on him.

there is quite a bit of chatter that Porter has convinced him to stay home

I was afraid of that. Its gonna be a battle to get this kid away from Porter. Its down to UT & Memphis. Hopefully our coaches give him a call, & convince him to visit UT this weekend.
